Top 10 Best Players?

Postby ShAuN on Fri Aug 26, 2005 10:49 am

Who do you guys think the top 10 best NBA players are?? Heres mine

1 - Tim Duncan - Im not a fan but clearl hes proven hes a winner, 3 MVPS and I thin 3 rings

2 - Shaq - Also has proven hes a winner, no MVP but should have been. When he left the Lakers, they didnt make the playoffs

3 - Kevin Garnett - Very versitile PF that can rebound, shoot, and can run. Also a GREAT shot blocker

4 - Tracy McGrady - Stuck in the first round but with Orlando he had no one, And it was his 1st year in Houston, he even said he was a little shaky till the end of the year. You could relize that because his GREAT games werent in HOuston (13-35secs, Dirk VS Tmac)

5 - LeBron James - Second year and he was in the MVP race, clearly deserves to be in top 5

6 - Dwyane Wade - Might sound wierd, but the kid is amazing. First year led his team to the playoofs after Miami got the 5th Pick!. Hes not just a great player, but hes a team player and it showed

7 - Amare Stoudemire - Brakeout season. Him and Nash played incredible togeather

8 - Kobe Bryant - Why is Kobe only 8? Well he showed he needs Shaq because his team made the lottery. But he is a VERY good player who will be in the top 10 for along time

9 - Jason Kidd - Didnt play to well this year, because no KMart, and Jefferson was injured alot. But still makes people around him alot better

10 - Steve Nash - MVP he deserved to make the top 10. I dont think He would make top 15 without an MVP Award because hes not SPECTACULAR. Kidd is better than him for sure, but Nash played very well, I will credit him that. He made Amare a better player

Non-Listed players

Paul Pierce - Had a bad year. But Playoffs he showed he was the Truth ranking top 3 in effincey

Dirk Nowitzki - Better with Nash but still great player. He needs more of a Passing PG to be Spectacular.

Allen Iverson - a Great player, but too selfish "Were talking about practice" yea well your on the team you should be in practice setting examples for the toung ones. All for himself.

Shawn Marion - VERY good player, but boring to watch hes a well rounded player, but I think hes underrated. So thats why I didnt put him in the top 10

Hope you guys like my list, I know people are gonna bash on Wade but whatever thats what I think. Make ur own I like seeing what people think about NBA Stars

Well Marion disappeared last year in the playoffs..
I think AI should be 10th instead of Nash. Nash is great but damn, AI can really carry a team. I'd also move t-mac a couple down because of that first round curse. Prove us wrong and get passed it. 2 times he went to game 7s and lost. (N)

Yea true but since he took MVP I put him there. Just his attitude sucks. And I think I clearly explained whats wrong with Tmac

Tracy McGrady - Stuck in the first round but with Orlando he had no one, And it was his 1st year in Houston, he even said he was a little shaky till the end of the year. You could relize that because his GREAT games werent in HOuston (13-35secs, Dirk VS Tmac)

so what about T-Mac never making it passed the first round? That boils down to his team-mates.

If you leave him out of where he is because of that, you have to move LeBron down too because he's never even made the Playoffs..

AI's been to the Finals once. What other notable Playoff runs has he had?

KG's been to the WCF just once. Before that, he never got passed the first round either.

I like your top 10, but I'd put AI in it in replace of Jason Kidd, and I probably wouldn't have the same order as you.

ok fine forget the playoff thing..

AI still should be top 10, he does it all for the sixers and he is a great player at his size. Look at the abuse he takes and he still goes out there and give it his all.
He also won a MVP Award and a All-Stars MVP Award. Little more than what Nash has done.

I wouldn't go that far. T-Mac had some good team-mates in Houston, but they just faced a better team in Dallas.

The lack of Jermaine O'Neal on these lists is dissappointing.

Are we forgetting that in his last healthy year he was number 3 in MVP voting? Are we forgetting that even though he played a limited amount of games last season he still averaged 24.3 points and 8.8 boards?

Are Jermaine O'Neal and Shaq's numbers that different? No, in fact, Jermaine averaged more points last year, and only 2 rebounds less. Yet Shaq makes every top 5 list and JO makes almost nobodies top 10 lists.

I hate how underrated he is, but hey, it'll be just that much more surprising to everyone when he wins MVP this season I guess.

I notice how far Kobe's stock has dropped. Couple years ago many would have him number 1, now only 1 person has him #1 ( probably a biased kobe fan)

Aren't you the guy who said Garnett sucks and is overrated because he has no rings? Yet you put him over Kobe and Shaq who have 3 rings each? Are you feeling ok or have you finally realized that it takes a team to win a championship?

find the sentence where i wrote garnett sucks and quote it.

overrated? yeah. doesnt mean he still cant be a good player, but when people put him above duncan thats just ridiculous. shaq would be above him if shaq were in his prime.... i assumed he meant top 10 players right now, if your asking me over a career, of course shaq kicks garnetts ass. i would never put kobe above him right now or career wise because one: career wise garnett has 1 reg season mvp which fulfills one of my criteria for a great player (1 reg seas mvp, 1 finals mvp), while kobe fulfills none. winning a championship alone isnt enough, and i never said it was, you have to be the focal (at least when comparing star players). i put kg at #2 right now, even though he didnt make the playoffs, because i personally think he's that good. maybe im bias. o well.

i dont think you need a championship to be a GOOD player, i think you need a championship (and a finals mvp and reg season mvp) to be considered a GREAT player. maybe our definitions are different, but i dont consider just any schmuck great.

why do i put lebron and mcgrady and amare above iverson (a former reg season mvp)? because iverson is just that, a FORMER reg season mvp. if you ask me over a career i would put iverson at 4 on my list. even though bron didnt make the playoffs, i have lebron at 3 because of personal evaluation of his talent. sue me. does it stray from my belief that great players make the playoffs and win? no, because i only consider two current players great (over a career) in the nba today, right now: duncan and shaq. does it stray from my belief that a GOOD player should get his team into the playoffs? yes, but i still put him there, and i will make no lame excuses for his teammates. sue me, its my opinion, get over it. next year i think he'll contest for #2.

so.... over a career who are still playing here are my top 10. but if your asking me right now i stick with my original list.

1. duncan
2. shaq
3. garnett
4. iverson
5. kobe
6. mcgrady
7. jason kidd
9. ray allen
10. nowitzki

why isnt steve nash or chauncy billups there? because i dont want them to be. neither are 'great' without the second mvp, and so are debatable, they're both still 'good', but so are a lot of players who i think are 'gooder'

you havent learned have you? just because i criticize a player doesnt mean i dont think he's good.... i just dont think he's good as you think he is. stop getting so flustered that garnett isnt perfect, i still think he's a good player with a chance of proving himself great.... he just hasnt yet. sorry.
