Next years sleeper

Postby Mentally Hilarious on Tue Jul 05, 2005 8:42 am

Every season there is a few players that surprise the league and it's fans playing like we never thought them possible.

Break-out season in it's own, but I'm talking about the guys that go through the league year after year, and suddenly just explodes.

Last year I would actually choose Nash for this, even though we all knew he was good, could anyone dream of him doing what he did to the Suns? An aging PG with severe problems in defence-area blowing up the league? No, surely not... Bobby Simmons kinda did the same after years of kinda but not really being a good player, he took hold of a starting sport for the LAC.

So, my pick for next year is either Raja Bell for the Suns or Gerald Wallace (wherever he might end up).

My picks are Desmond Mason and Dan Gadzuric (if he ends up somewhere else than Milwaukee)

hmmm... That's why they're called sleepers... because we have no idea and we won't expect them to do well..... If we knew.. they wouldn't exactly be known as sleepers.

Umm.. yes. I do know that. The meaning of the thread was to see if we had any qualified guessers amongst us.

Dan Dickau if he starts ... Steve Blake is another one. No I don't have an obsession with white point guards, I just think if they get in the right situation they'd do well.

Nahhh ... Dickau ain't gonna start over Paul. I think JR Smith will have a breakout season this year.

Apparently, the latest rumour is that Dickau is going Green. So who knows what will happen if West goes down with sporadic injuries as last year and Banks gets shipped/plays backup to Dan.

I really like Dan, and would love him in Boston, but as a starter? ...no, not yet. Sign him for 2yr+plyr option and we'll talk. If he gets settled in a system, he can turn out nicely.

I would say Tyronn Lue. He now has the opportunity to start and play major minutes if he remain as a Hawk.

I agree with the Lue one although, he had shown promise many times in atmospheres such as the Wizards where he goes AI on other teams because his team is out of the playoffs... will we see it ahppen again?

Chris Bosh will have a breakout season. He has matured and he has really stepped up his game and the franchise revolves around him.

I think Cherokee Parks will stun everyone in the NBA, as he gets pulled over in his Ford Taurus with a loaded 9mm and 40 grams of crack.
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

Did the nearest McDonalds and KFC shut-down or something? Was a part of his belly ripped off by a bear? Did he eat a old taco from Taco Bell and puke his organs out?

No. He's found new dedication in the weight room.... Plus he's only eating salads and fish for the past 3 months... He's a new man, I tell you...

I'd have to agree with the Pope here, he's got a good point....

I'm still waiting for John Wallace and Laron Profit to have their breakout seasons

Josh Childress will breakout, but he probably already did in the 2nd half of the season, so he doesn't count....hopefully Carlos Delfino and Darko Milicic have breakout years and rid themselves of the shackles that Brown placed on them....Sit's right, it could be Caron Butler....Dorrell Wright in Miami....Desmond Mason in Milwaukee....John Salmons of the 76ers....Nick Collison and Luke Ridnour of Sonics will improve even more....
