Lakers-Blazers rumor

Postby Indy on Sat Jun 25, 2005 7:18 am

1) According to an NBA source, the Los Angeles Lakers have acquired the #3 pick of the draft from the Portland Trailblazers. The Lakers have also acquired Rueben Patterson in the deal. What is not clear is what Portland has received in exchange. It is expected that they would get the #10 pick plus a player from the Lakers. Portland is said to be very high on Martell Webster.

I'm sure if this deal goes through Atkins will be involved. Maybe even Butler, even though its said PJ is high on him. We'll see.

I was just about to post that! If it's true the Lakers will probably part with Atkins and EVENTUALLY Grant which is not likely but it'd be cool. (Y)

If I was Portland, then I'd try to get Odom, not Butler...

Odom is impossible according the information above, Ruben's salary will not allow it.

Anyone else or combination of other Lakers are possible, but the big 3 (Kobe, Grant, Odom) are out unless the trade involved more players than just Patterson.

I don't like this trade at all. I'd rather stay at #10 or do the deal with Charlotte for 2 picks.

Thats a strange trade by the lakers trading a budding swingman in Caron Butler to portland for the #3 pick and Ruben "I can stop Kobe, Oh wait no i cant" Patterson? This doesnt fix the giant hole LA has at the 4 either if they take Chris Paul. It also says they'd take Andrew Bynum who i think is over rated at #10 when you could get Ike Diogu or Sean May...

That would mean Luke Walton at the 3 and Odom at 4... Both passing forwards, just liek Phil likes them...

I don't believe in this deal mainly beacause I don't think the Blazers would be that dumb to throw away the 3rd pick like that. (Well yes they would), but wouldn't they realize that they are missing out on a good oppurtunity that could give them a franchise player after making all those previous trades in the past by getting rid of the core that they had a few years ago when they almost beat the Lakers. Portland isn't use to having professional teams so I guess they get too excited when a trade comes up for them.

Actually, it has mostly been regarded as a respected franchise.... After Zach Randolph came in, it all went haywire... Patterson, Miles, Randolph, Anderson ... they should be a gang, not a bball team...

Portland is usually atop notch franchise. This is the franchise that had Bill Walton, Lenny Wilkens, Clyde Drexler, and the legendary Dr Jack Ramsay.

And quite honestly, the whole "jailblazer" thing is so childish. Let's see here:
- driving with insurance OMFG
- pot smoking?! Dude, 50% of the Chicago Police force smokes pot.

The one guy with charge worth noting is Patterson, which happened while Patterson was in Seattle, not Portland, and he's hardly the cornerstone of Portland, he'll most likely be dealt in some package.

Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant retains his endorsement deal w McDonalds while raping girls. Jayson Williams kills his friends with a shotgun. Jason Kidd beats his wife.

Driving without insurance...yep he's a "gangsta". I heard stories he takes turns without turning his signal indicator on too.

the shame...

Hmmm, Qyntel Woods betting on dogfights... minor... at least he's a goner...

D-Miles thinking he knows more than Mo Cheeks... acceptable...

Zach Randolph getting a fat paycheck and then proceeding to coast an entire season... Yep, typical professional attitute...

I grew up at a time when the Blazers were respected as a franchise, and this whole situation is now appalling...
