Miami vs. Spurs (if I were to predict this early)

Detroit will be toppled without Brown (assuming he's gone), and Indiana will be edged out by an older and experienced Wade & Shaq. Spurs will continue their reign as defending champions with their core intact.

Spurs again, especially if they end up with Luis Scola. Don't know about the East, it could be anyone pretty much.

Pacers - Spurs

Pacers winning in 6.

If we're healthy next year we WILL win it all. I guarentee it.

Or maybe I just like the idea of a healthy lineup of

Tins
Jax
Ronnie
JO
Dale/Jeff

Lakers-Heat would be what Stern wants...but I'll go..

Heat vs Spurs.

I don't see the Spurs getting any worse...unless..Tim Duncan is poisoned, kidnapped, killed, locked in box, locked into a safe, thrown into the water full of sharks, bombarded by 300 atomic bombs and then thrown into the depths of space. We can all dream...Or just someone breaks his knees with a hammer. (Not an often used method anymore...)
Bored.

Dale/Jeff

Just consider that for a moment... Dale and Jeff rotating at C, and that's healty... not to mention that probably neither of tehm can actually stay 'healthy' throughout the season...

The only way the pacers are going to dethrone the Pistons from the Eastern throne , is if Artest has an MVP calible season... and follows it up in the playoffs... but even if that happens, Detroit is still the only team that has a chance of beating the Spurs in a 7 game series...

Now I like the Pacers, far more than teh Pistons, and I'd like the home state of basketball to have a spot in the Finals, but the title seems a bit far-fetched right now, unless a monster-lopsided trade takes place...

Good luck, though...

Really, seems far-fetched?

We took Detroit 6 games without our best player, with an injured Jamaal Tinsley and an injured JO.

We won 61 games in 03-04 and almost swept through the first two rounds of the playoffs (the heat stole 2 in a row after the Pacers took a 3-0 lead in the series). Then JO and Jamaal were injured in the Conference Finals so we lost to Detroit.

Finally we will be starting the year with all our guys healthy.

And I love the combination of dale and jeff rotating at center, through in Hulk (David Harrison) who showed incredible promise this season before having injury problems and I see 3 big bodies who are definitley good enough for the weakest position on the team.

You also clearly have no idea what you're talking about when saying you don't know if Dale and Jeff won't be able to stay healthy, neither of them have had injury problems in there careers (other then Jeff being injured to start the year this year).

To be honest, I would put all my money on the Pacers winning it all next year (or at least going to the finals) but I would never bet on my guys, it just doesn't seem right.

Yes, I'm that confident.

I'll probably get a multi-paragraph comment from this, but no Reggie Miller...

as much as i hate the pistons i really cannot see anyone beating them in the east next year. i thought san antonio was going to walk all over them but they definitely gave duncan and friends a run for their money. given the fact that they're the best defensive team in the nba and have been in pressure situations number of times and the fact that they always manage to overcome the odds, i don't see why the pistons won't win the east next year (or the finals for that matter)

You're saying the team can't win without Reggie? Yes its sad to see him go, but the team has been preparing for his leaving for 5 years, I'm not too worried.

the last couple of years it's been no surprise that reggie hasn't been the focal point of the offense.. he's just been there as a mentor, for leadership purposes, the important shit that doesn't go on the stat sheet..

Larry Brown.

Forget Detroit as champions, this guy took a team made up of AI + 11 bench players to the Finals, and played with a lot of heart. This is a guy superstars listen to even though most of them hate his guts.

Hmmm, Jeff (wow, he's on a first name basis now, a real household name... ) was injured last year and Dale is , what, 36, 37 years old... Even AC Green got injured at that age... No team without a dominant Center will win an NBA title in the next few years... and don't start telling me TD isn't a center, because he is... heck, in fact, no team in the past 20 years except for teh Bulls hasn't won a title without a great big...

To be honest, I would put all my money on the Pacers winning it all next year (or at least going to the finals) but I would never bet on my guys, it just doesn't seem right.

I guess one has to believe... good for you, just be prepared for defeat... I'll definitely be rooting for the Pacers when/if they go up against Detroit... (Y)

Thats what I was going to say. If you can't say JO isn't a center then you can't say Tim isn't a Center. If JO gets his head straight (I believe he will this year) when healthy he is a top 10 player in the league.

JO is a Center by necessity... TD is a Center by default, and a PF due to game planning... there's a difference. JON is a great big, but he can't bang it with the Wallaces like TD did in Game 7...

JO is 6'11" 242, that's not Center size? Just because He's more of a finnesse player doesn't mean he's not just as much of a Center.

And yes he can bang with the Wallaces.
