Lakers/Bobcats Trade Rumour. This is very strange...

I saw this in a few threads at RealGM so I figured I'd post it here. Basically people have been noticing that in a few ESPN mock drafts they have the Bobcats picking at 10th, and the Lakers picking at 5th. People thought it was just a mistake and blew it off, even though it was on like 3 mock drafts.

HoopsWorld have started reporting a rumour that has Charlotte sending the 5th and 13th pick to the Lakers for Caron Butler, Brian Cook, Chucky Atkins and the 10th overall... ignoring the fact that HoopsWorld often get it wrong, they are the only site really reporting this. I know alot of people will think it's stupid and it'll never happen blah blah blah but the fact that this showed up at NBA.com is really unusual. It's not your regular trade rumour that's for sure.

WTF? If it's true, then it's a dumb trade for the Bobcats. They could get plenty more for those picks.

Well there aren't deals signed, but the fact that talks are going on is hardly secret.

Quite a few teams have publically stated they are aggressively looking to trade up in the draft to get a PG. Utah and Orlando have been very open about that, and i'm sure the Lakers are doing the same. Utah even went as far as to say they like their young core but they would only call AK47 untouchable.

That means trading w/ NOH or Charlotte, since Mil & Atl picks will be used for Bogut & Williams. They could trade with lower pick teams, but then they're taking a huge risk as CP & Deron are going in the top5 in most mock drafts.

Not many trade talks result in a draft board being changed before anything's even announced. This is like PG heaven though, I don't know what they're so worried about there's probably like 3 PG's in the 2nd round who'll end up very good.

I meant that this seems credible to me, i'd believe it.

I seem to get the feeling there's a big dropoff after CP/Deron as far as PGs go, heck Felton is not that far ahead of Luther Head now.
