Hopefully Flip Saunders will get the Milwaukee job now. It's close to his home in Minnesota and I think Milwaukee fits him better than most of the other vacant teams.

Wow, they just said he'd be the coach next year too. He did a good job taking them to the playoffs last year and he only had a bad year this year because his point guard was hurt.

I smell a rat here... it is possible that Porter and GM Harris had a serious dispute about the no. 1 pick...

No kidding, that's actually a shocker, didn't expect it. He had a good season the year before, but I didn't think they'd give up on him this quickly. Like Dweaver said, there could be a rat.

"Terry Porter, right, talks to Utah center Andrew Bogut following a workout with the Milwaukee Bucks, Monday, June 20, 2005, in St. Francis, Wis. The Bucks announced Wednesday, June 22, 2005, that Porter will not return as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2005-2006 season."[/img]

Damn...and he did such a good job two years ago. I saw that on ESPN when I logged on and was shocked.

Further proof that owners and managers wrongly think that everything is always the coaches fault.

Not only that, but they want immediate results no matter what the team's situation. Even if it's not a bad decision in the sense that there are some good, experienced coaches looking for work, it wasn't necessarily the right move to make; though it's very typical of a lot of coaching changes this year.

Whatever happened to patience? We don't see coaches getting fired left and right a decade ago :?

True, but when you think about it the turnover isn't just limited to coaches alone. How many teams in the league right now have had essentially the same starting five for anywhere near a decade, like the Lakers and Celtics back in the 80s?

There's also the attitude of not wanting to suffer long rebuilding periods, thus everything is overhauled including the coach. Insteading of building carefully piece by piece, allowing the coach a bit of time to work with what he's got and build up a good team that can play within the coach's philosophy, teams go for the quick fix because they want results now. And as Colin said, it's usually easier to blame the coach and get rid of him than to do what needs to be done with the roster.
