And yeah, VC, Richard Jefferson and Kidd tanking a season is perfectly reasonable. What do they have to lose? It's not like Kidd is aging or anything .

From what ive seen of Greg Oden hes pretty 1 dimensional. Ive seen 2 games all he did was dunk, he showed no range and hes got a foot on most of those kids and he only scored like 14 and 16 points. But the other two guys are real dominant from what I read in SLAM that they both got helled back in 7th grade so they would be playing weaker comp.

Why would they hold them back to play weaker competition when they should be playing stronger competition? And your right about Oden, he needs more work IMO and he is overrated at this point saying that he could've went no.1 in the NBA Draft in his junior season.

No, because a guy as hyped as he is should be averaging at least 20-25ppg in high school. The guy that plays on my team name Pierre Niles average just about the same as that and he is talking about going to the NBA next year, but now he won't because he'll have to go to college with the new rule and he is 6'8" and I think 240 pounds.

Nah i mean they got themselves held back by throwing away their 7th grde year,in the Slam it said "They are 17, high school sophmores, old for their grade because they voluntarily repeated a year of middle school, their goal in mind even then"Im guessing theri "goal" was to dominate the younger weaker pimple faced kids that are High school hoops in Ohio. I guess it was to just plain whoop on everyone else.

Oldens big problem is he's too unselfish. His coach said he has to yell at Olden to score because he doesnt want to be a ball hog so he doesnt dominate.

I remember reading that the coach made a rule that if Olden scores less than 10 points (or something like that) he has to do push ups or something. Dont remember the details but the guy is unselfish.

So Oden doesnt average 25 to 30 ppg because he doesnt want to be ball hog

That tells you he is gunna be a really special basketball player

But I hope he learns to become a little more selfish so we can see if he could be the next SHAQ

All because he is unselfish doesn't mean he will be really special. I have yet to see him really perform at a high level. Lebron was unselfish when he was in high school, but he was still able to put up staggering numbers. I'm just waiting on Oden to really show something because from the high school games I've seen, he really doesn't play like a very special player. Sure he is unselfish, but you can't tell if he is that Shaq type of player yet because he hasn't shown no signs of selfishness anyway. You'll be amazed how hard it is to get ap layer to become more selfish and he will have to learn that before he goes to the NBA.

Due to the age limit, won't some of these kids (OJ Mayo and Bill Walker I think in particular) not be able to make the 2007 draft? Also, Oden keeps on saying he wants to go to college first. (Well a few million dollars can change your mind easily...)
Bored.

Judging by what was said earlier in the bargain agreement thread, someone pointed out that Mayo was 17 in his freshman year because he was held a year back so he should be 19 or 20 when he graduate. I think it's the same for Walker, not sure though.

Are you guys listening to yourselves? They're freaking high schoolers for God's sake! A few years ago, people were giving the same hype to guys like Lenny Cooke and D'Angelo Collins. Do you know what happened to those guys? You can probably guess since you don't even recognize their names.

I remember Lenny Cooke, I was hoping he'd actually get to play but I guess it didn't work out.

Don't jusdge by numbers, the NBA scouts have only one word in mind whe they evaluate a draft prospect: "Potential"...

That goes both for college and (especially) prep boys... Marvin Williams 11.9 ppg and 6 or something rpg are not anything special number-wise, plus he was not even a starter for te 'Heels... They see great potential in him thoughj, that's why he's considered th etop prospect in 2005

As for Oden, he's a center, isn't he? All th emore reason to care more about potential than numbers...

These days the draft is about potential.. but someone in the forums told me it was going back to talent?

Maybe by the time these kids get to the NBA, talent will be the main focus again!

I don't really think a 1 year difference in the age limit is going to stop people going for potential. Rudy Gay for instance will still be a potential based pick unless he completely blows up.
