Darko days
He may be the reason Larry Brown probably won't be coaching the Pistons next season. Darko Milicic, the 7-foot Serbian center, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. Brown isn't exactly fond of international players and, though active, Milicic has played just 19 minutes in the playoffs and only four scoreless minutes in this series before Game 4.
There has been talk the Pistons will try to include him in some trade package this summer. Milicic, who turns 20 on Monday, has dropped hints about returning to play in Europe after next season, when the Pistons have the option of extending his deal.
"Right now it is about winning and supporting my team," Milicic said. "During the season, all I was waiting for was a chance to get some playing time (he played a total of 254 minutes), 10-to-15 minutes to show people what I can do. I came here to play and enjoy basketball. It's really hard."
"Everyone says be patient, I'll have a long career. . . . If you ask me if it was better to stay in Europe."
I like this guy. He's athletic, big-bodied, tall (7'1'' in shoes) and is a great talent from what I've seen of him when he played for Hemofarm. He wasn't in Tskitishvili mold - he actually played and he knew what to do on the court. His best atribute was his heard - it looked like he really cares on the court. I thought he was capable of having 15-25 productive minutes per game when he first came into the league. But now? Unhappy, rotting on Larry Brown's bench. They better trade him to a team which can actually develop him or send him back to Europe. They should be punished, if they don't. IMHO, his best case scenario is still far better that the one of Dirk or Bogut.

Everyone is fairly sure it has nothing to do w/ Darko...Brown just won't play his bench...but can you argue w/ the man? His team is in the Finals, best 2 of 3 wins it all.
Detroit's starters play the highest # of minutes of any team in the NBA, and i think they may have actually set some record for not playing their bench.

Its not really that Larry doesnt like his bench its just he hates Young players. If you go over the Pistons rotation when Larry coaches he has The likes of Darvin Ham and Elden Campbell playing in front of Darko, Delfino and Dupree. He apparently tried to get Delfino traded at the deadline because he hates his game sooo much. Thus why delfino was left off the playoff roster. When Gar Heard coached when larry was in the hospital the young guys played and Delfino even started 4 games over Lindsay Hunter and Carlos Aroyyo. I think its just larry's hate for young players that makes him so stern with them.

Well, no matter how that seems at first, the guy's results justify his decisions...

It's Milicic.

In fact, it's Milichich, but I can't write it in its original form, while you wouldn't see some letters. What the hell, lets give it a shot: Miličić. (The title is a 'Being John Malkovich' rip-off (wannabe).) Wouldn't it be good if we talked about something else

?

I dunno, but after this season, If I were Arroyo or Milicic I'd be asking to be traded for sure...both of them could be used elsewhere on other teams...

with your strange letters, it still came out looking like "Milicic"

So has Ham, does that make him good?

Man Darko MILICIC is good..I won't be suprised if he gets traded to a different team in the offseason for some crap players...then suprise everyone and get huge numbers.. all he needs is playing time. Give the poor guy some playing time and he'll put up better numbers than Antonio McD. (Maybe double his numbers)
and yea it IS MILICIC.

Well so has Bill Walton, and they've both gotten about the same playtime.

No he hasn't, Ham wasn't a rookie last year, he's been in the league for 7 years
and Denver didn't go to the Finals in the 96-97 season.

Maybe that guy who made the Beno Udrih "Shooting Guard" video should make one of Darko

that's why i wan Brown OUT after this season....championship or not.
Milicic needs to play some, at least 10 min per game.
The trio of Milicic, Delfino, Arroyo and Dupree have the potential to be good players for Detroit but under Brown they wont get that chance.
Brown knows nothing about players....last season he wanted Joe D to sign T Fowlkes, so Joe did.....Fowlkes barely played, less than Milicic. Brown also was talking about wanting Pero Cameron to workout with Detroit....any one who's seen Cameron knows that he cant play for shit. He's a poor mans Oliver Miller.
Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:48 pm
Pero Cameron can play....just not in the NBA....he's the most unathletic basketballer in history....I think he could fit in fine in a team's offence, but as a 6'4", 300 odd pound PF, he's too small for PF....too slow to even guard SF's, let along SG's....so it would be on the defensive side that he would get abused....
Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:50 pm
I think his shot would constantly get blocked... he has no jump on his shot and just uses his arm strength really to throw it up... he'd be absolutely exhausted after about 5 minutes in the NBA.
Sun Jun 19, 2005 5:54 pm
yep, the lack of lift on his jumpshot (I dunno if his feet even leave the ground

) would hinder his ability to contribute....and I don't think it would take too much to exhaust Pero

well, Browns departure from Detroit is all but official. When Joe D says that he isn't happy with the situation surrounding Brown then you know somethings up.
Brown has lost the interest of the players too.....they've zoned him out and it's time for a new coach. Please be Flip Saunders.
Still on Brown, Team USA is screwed if he's the long term coach. The Greece disaster isnt his fault, that wouldnt of happened if Marbury and Jefferson were knocking down shots. Having said that, gone are the days where all 12 players get to play. Hubie Brown would be the perfect Team USA coach.
Mon Jun 20, 2005 2:36 am
Man, I hope he gets some playing time next year! He's 2nd pick! C'mon, he must be able to do something...or else why would Pistons even draft him?? He must be crying most nights at home when he gets another 0 minute game... He ain't no Mark Pope man!
