Phil likes Odom

Postby ntong on Wed Jun 15, 2005 10:57 pm

Lamar Odom will become the pivotal new player in the offense. Those close to Jackson have been telling people all along that Odom was the one guy who most intrigued the team's old, and now new, coach.

"As an outsider watching," Jackson said Tuesday, "he looked like the best player on the floor in delivering the ball. I think there's really a role there for him."

I thought he was gonna be traded...

Not with Phil. Lamar has the skills that match what Jax loves in his Point forwards for his triangle offence. I guess Odom has a second chance for redemption....

yep....Lamar Odom is the perfect Pippen-like forward to initiate the triangle offense....Mihm will be used in similar to the Longleys and Wennington's of the world....

Anything less than 5apg from Odom in the triangle will be blasphemy. 6'10'', quick and fast, with natural PG skills, he's perfect for Jackson's systems.

provided someone passes him the ball... which might be a bit of a problem since there's only Atkins at Pg and Kobe has the rock glued to his hands until he decides to shoot.

Should be interesting to see how the Lakers fare next season...

I'm kinda curious how this'll turn out. Kinda sad how Odom didn't do much because of Kobe's ballhogging when it was Wade and Odom who was carrying the Heat to the playoffs last season

Agreed. You can't go anywhere when your primary ballhandler is a selfish volume shooter. Odom, on the other hand, does all kinds of creative things with the ball.

(Yes, I'm a heretic, but I believe that Odom in the right circumstances and with right coach would be a better 'franchise player' than Bryant. Above all, he's already a better team player.)

Felton's kinda small, I'll still stick with Jarrett Jack if he wants a big PG (Y)

I'm getting more optimistic about this Phil/LA business... because I have to basically, but it all sounds cool so far. We'll see what happens.

I feel Kobe will change his ways since he learned a lesson last year by not reaching the playoffs.

Trade Kobe; keep Odom.

Hehe, Bryant has a no trade clause so that won't be happening anytime soon.

Well, I wouldn't trade Kobe. They're playing triangle now and who exactly can you get to play a wing scorer? He's the best 1-on-1 player in the league, clutch as hell, but has a monstruos ego. But so did Jordan. There's no place for three giant egomaniacs in a team, but there is one for two - for Jackson and Bryant. Things will go easier from now on. Just let Odom handle the ball.

All you Lakers fans out there... ponder this: Who would be BETTER managing the Lakers right now other than Zen?

I'm a huge Lamar Odom fan and I think this can only be a good sign for Lamar if Phil Jackson comes back. I'd love to see what Odom can do after watching what he did for Miami.

Now we just need a decent big man down low and a tall point guard which the draft will hopefully supply.

Well apparently all the talk of Lamar Odom being LA has ceased! Phil likes him and if he likes him he's staying for sure. I wonder what positions he would be playing next year because he's more of a natural forward who played the PF position for the most part last season because of Caron Butler. But anyways, Odom was good in his last season with Miami, hopefully he'll get better and prove how good he is alongside Kobe Bryant.

i personally rather have phil over brown. i like pop and i might go with him instead of phil on alot of teams, but with this laker squad i like phil the best.
