Is trading Paul Pierce to the Portland Trailblazers for the Number 3 pick a good idea?

As long as that Number 3 pick doesn't turn out to be like Olowakandi

i have not followed all the draft talk really so i gotta ask the question, who is most likly to be the 3rd pick?

also i think they need something else in return for pierce. he is a proven all star who has time and time again won games by having huge 4th quarters. to give that up for just 1 unproven rookie is not that good of an idea imo.

on the flip side though boston does not want to be stuck in the middle so maybe making a change would be good.

I'm sure trading Pierce will clear some pay for another player. I don't think this trade will happen but if it did I agree with you, Boston should get more out of the deal. I'm not too sure who will go 3rd. But if Boston goes ahead with this trade, I'm positive they will also acquire another player from somewhere else with the money left over.

I doubt Boston would pull of a trade like that, I'm sure they can get a change of scenery by trading Pierce for another, more proven player. Trading him for a pick would be a very very drastic change, I don't think that's what they're looking for at the moment.

Besides, knowing Boston, they'd probably trade Pierce and after a year trade right back for him.

Is this straight up? Because it's bogus. 3rd pick will probably be Marvin Williams/Chris Paul. They should at least get some decent Guard back or so. I don't think trading Pierce is the right step right now.

It's just a rumor, I can't find anything about it at Nba.com but found some at ESPN.

 I don't mind anything, unless you're a cracker orso. :P

Anyways, back on topic. Do you think Boston should look to deal away Pierce? They've had that duo for quite some time & haven't really gotten very far, should the Celtics look for another SG/SF?

Well the top 3 are Bogut, Williams and Paul but Portland seem obsessed with Gerald Green so if they don't trade the pick they would probably take him.

Taking Gerald Green a high school player with a pick that you traded Pierce with is kind of insane. Also, how the hell do the Blazers have the cap to make this trade? They are going to have so many max contract players!

If Portland keep the pick that's most likely who they'll take.. obviously Boston would take someone else.

imo they should only trade pierce if they can get a young bigman with a load of potential.

no that's cool.

from an outsider's view, i think if the celts do trade pierce, they'll trade him for a wing player rather then a center & also make the team at least pay half of what the celts owe to vin baker (if that's not against the rules)

there aren't many true centers left in the league so i'd be surprised if a team would give that up, a young one no less. that would be a suprise. but hey if some team is dopey enough to give the celts another promising big man, the celts should jump on it and try and be like the spurs a few years back with their twin towers.

Bogut & Marvin Williams are virtually a lock for #1 & #2.

For #3 it could be, depending on position:
True PG: Chris Paul
Combo Guard: Deron Williams
Swingman: Gerald Green / Martell Webster
PF: Fran Vasquez
C: Channing Frye

Doesn't the pick&roll duo of Jefferson and Paul sound cool? Plus, you still have young studs such as Allen, West, Perkins, Pierce, Davis and Banks. Now, if you could combine Pierce, Blount and Lafrentz to Blazers for #3, Joel Przybilla and expiring contracts, you would have cap room next year, a promising role player in The Stiff and chance to get a future Hall-Of-Famer in Paul (or Williams). Boston would have to trade one of their developing PGs (either West or Banks) and voila!, you get a young, promising team. Did I mention they would still have their own draft pick this year?

They're a play-off team, I don't know why they'd be thinking about trading their best player... all they really need is a couple more guys who can contribute and they'd be set.
