What the hell happened to Bison Dele... no one knows

"Disappearance in the South Pacific"

ImageWell I've been tryin to figure this out, Brian Williams changes his name to Bison Dele, sounds like a greek mythical animal, then gets on a boat and never comes back. If you like screwed up stories check this out, and if you know something the FBI doesn't just e-mail me. :P

Could have been, my memory of the whole matter is a bit hazy but I'm sure it was his brother who was charged with murder.

Edit: I was sort of right.

The List: Sports' most harmful relatives

Did Dabord kill his brother, his brother's girlfriend, and a ship's captain? We'll never know, because he died of an insulin overdose after being accused of murder, which probably took place aboard the Hakuna Matata. The brothers had been estranged, and Dabord was known to be jealous of his brother's success. He was also broke, unemployed, and in debt to a former girlfriend.

Whichever way you look at it, it's messed up lol. I heard something about his brother dying after he came out of his comotose state. I guess we'll never really know what happened that day on the boat...

I read an even more messed up story: Bison's girlfriend tried to break up a fistfight between the ship's captain and Bison, and dies suddenly, and Bison ends up killing the captain with a wrench. Stuck with two dead people on the ship, Bison gets into an argument with his brother and then gets killed by his brother's gun. That's messed up.

I remember this guy! One of the biggest underachievers of the '90, but I still liked him. He had a sort of an intellectual aura around him. Quite refreshing, considering he played in the NBA.

I thought he was quite useful few moments after Bulls signed him.. in the playoff.

I don't remember him getting a lot of block (at least while he played for the Pistons) and the stats confirm my memory is still quite accurate:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/delebi01.html

He could be a role model for all of the underachievers out there: when he retired at the age of 30 he gave up circa 30-40 million (5 more years on his contract). Imagine if Dampier and other guys like him did that.

I wish Adonal Foyle would do that... and then take Chris Mullin on a cruise with the hakuna Matata, and drop him in the middle of the Pacific Ocean... Ahhh, can't a man dream?

He did indeed, as Brian Williams in 1997. He was a late season pick-up, filling in for the injured Bill Wennington.
