Who in your opinion would be the Unsung Hero for their team in the regular season? Someone who usually doesn't get as much credit as he should.

Shawn Marion - Pre Playoffs

Yea, if it's anybody you could say Joe Johnson I guess or Jim Jackson.
For my team, I'll say Lorenzen Wright because he does alot of dirty work and plays with alot of heart, something that the entire Grizz team needs.

You could've kept it to a single post instead of making 4 posts in a row
Unsung hero... hmm, maybe Gary Payton?
Sat Jun 04, 2005 4:24 pm
They're different posters.

It's actually four different posters.

On the teams i'm most familiar with, i'd say
Chicago: Nocioni -- not only his rookie year, not only a bench player, but always assigned to guard the other team's megastar. I can't think of a more brutal initiation, but he's loving it. Legit psycho.
Seattle: Evans -- completely ignored in favor of Ray, Rashard, Vlade when he's healthy, and less intereting than Jerome James or Danny Fortson. Reality: he's the #1 rebounder in the league statistically (in terms of rebound per missed shot).

On my team for the season, Joe Johnson. Barely anybody could figure out his ballhandling skills were key in letting Steve get a breather here and there. I didn't end up following this season as closly as I would have liked (besides Phoenix) because playing basketball 6 days a week for school just got me sick of it. Because of that, I don't have a big grasp on the other teams. But I might have to say Mike Bibby. Whenever he has a good game Sac seems to win. I don't have stats on this, but he just keeps that team ticking. Especially since Bobby Jackson fell off the face of the earth.

jeez cyanide, open your eyes! haha. j.k i missed that too, they all look the same. i agree with Lorenzen Wright. Good call COSBY.

I'd agree with that. I was quite impressed with Nocioni is pretty much every Bulls game I saw this year.

I couldn't disagree more lol. Hero's don't go out and risk their teams chances by knocking out a spectator. I don't care what the fan did, "Professional Athlete" doesn't just mean he's good at what he plays, he has to be a "Professional" at doing it. I'm probably dragging this thread in a seperate way but just wanted to mention it. Artest is a talented player but can't be declared an unsung hero until he gives it 100% to achieve that status. And I don't mean 100% on his rap cd...

Reggie Miller and the whole Indiana Pacers team.
Sat Jun 04, 2005 11:41 pm
Artest was a joke
I would have to say Reggie actually, he played amazing and made up for 2 missing all-stars and 1 missing key role player and took them to the playoffs. Now if it weren't for those damn Pistons
we'd be able to move on and lose to the Heat instead.

Well, I'll be damned

... Hmm, I know for sure OSF is one of them, but for the other ones, they all have high post counts. I'm guessing maybe one of them is ceekay, and I can't guess the rest.
Edit: I haven't been to General Talk the last 16 or so hours, so I'm falling behind with the events.

Eddie Jones
Sun Jun 05, 2005 7:01 am
I think Eddie Jones is one of the most underated players in the NBA for sure. Unsung hero, yea could be. Damon Jones is also up there.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 11:11 am
i dont really think Damon Jones is an unsung hero....i mean his game HAD to improve when he got that many open looks.
Sun Jun 05, 2005 11:13 am
I've watched a lot of Miami games this season and his 3 Point percentage is super high. I hardly see the guy miss a 3. I agree he does get lots of open looks.
