Pistons is the DIRTIEST team in the history of NBA!

Sat Jun 04, 2005 1:46 am

Oh man, why are they so dirty!
I remember in 1989's final, they hurt Magic Johnson, so they won the champion.
In last year's final, they hurt Karl Malone!
They then fought with Pacers, and made O'neal, artest, jackson all suspended. They beat the Pacers in the playoff all because Artest was suspended!
Now they've got Wade injuried. WTF are they doin,
dont tell me this is coincidence!

....I watched the game, man!
I saw R-Wallace was drving to the basket, Wade stepped in, so R-Wallace bumped into him, and he was charged for an Offensive foul. Wade left to the locker room since then... He later came out and try to play again, but he couldnt move, so he left again...

"Slam" actually wrote an article about the Pistons and their dirty play a couple of year ago.

Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:21 am

So what? If their opponents are so dumb and let themselves get caught in a fight, it serves them well. Plus, today's Pistons players are nothing compared to the ol dirty bastards back in the late 80s. Laimbeer was the meanest SOAB the game has ever seen. I like it like that. Go Pistons! 8-)

In last year's final, they hurt Karl Malone!

Karl was hurt BEFORE they even got to the pistons, he barely got through Spurs & Miiny

They then fought with Pacers, and made O'neal, artest, jackson all suspended. They beat the Pacers in the playoff all because Artest was suspended!

O'Neal, Artest & Jackson got themselves suspended. In case you forgot, LAST YEAR Detroit beat Indy and they had Artest.

Now they've got Wade injuried. WTF are they doin

Wade injured himself crossing up Hamilton. That charge he took was AFTER he had been injured

Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:27 am

Hehe, that's the biggest load of crock I read in awhile. Matt finished off all of those arguments.

Sat Jun 04, 2005 2:30 am

actually wade did hurt him himself, when he went for the crossover, he pulled a muscle..he said so himself

"Well, right now I'm just feeling pain," Wade said. "I just made a quick move on a crossover and I guess I pulled a muscle by doing that. It's just pain right now. I expect that, so hopefully I'll feel better in the morning."

after sheed bumped into him, it got worse i guess and he left to get it checked.

and man, this is the nba..u gotta expect stuff contact and like tht..

I know Karl's knee was injuried before they even played with piston, but he was playable, and he did a pretty good job at guarding R-wallace in game 1. Karl Malone could play until he got hurt again in the game 2, OK? Last season, pacers did not have Jackson! Wade couldnt get up after R-wallace bumped into him!, I saw the game, I know what happened

thats what you get for playing defense....that's why i always stay out of the way  you can get hurt playing D, my friend busted his leg whilst trunna stop a fast break.

maybe you are right, I was on the phone, so I guess i missed the part where wade was doing crossover, but his back did get worse, like you said, because of the hit he took from sheed

I guess you have to expect more injuries when play against pistons

Piston plays hardcore defense all the time, I dont see why their key players still on the court and playing

Sat Jun 04, 2005 4:32 am

Out of curiousity, what are the dirtiest things Laimbeer did?

Sat Jun 04, 2005 5:56 am

I don't think the current Pistons are really dirty, just tough and maybe a tad dirty sometimes. The only player in the NBA that I generally think is dirty is Bruce Bowen. I play physical defense myself, and I've heard opponent's complaints before, but watching this game, I see lots of little cheap shots he makes.

I hope they dont win.
But they have no chance they gonna get beat by the HEAT!!!!

I can remember this one bit where Kareem is going for an easy layup. Out of nowhere, Laimbeer pops up and takes him down with some kind of wrestling move. That was so damn hard... ouch!

ntong i hate the pistons but get your facts straight.

a.) karl malone did not get hurt by the pistons; he was injured by scott williams of the phoenix suns ACCIDENTALLY
b.) it wasn't pistons vs. the pacers that led to the thugsome threesome to get suspended. it was o'neal/artest/jackson/ vs. the palace of auburn hills. you didn't see any pistons throwing punches to the pacers (maybe except ben wallace palming artest's face) did you? please note that artest WALKED AWAY from wallace after he did so
c.) even if artest was still around the pistons could've probably beat them still. imo, they were the more experienced and better team (this coming from someone that doesn't like the pistons very much)
d.) wade's injury was not a deliberate act from rasheed. wade stood his ground for a charge - rasheed ran into him then blam, he went down. the rib injury was just unfortunate. it's pretty much like going up for a rebound and landing on someone's foot. you don't want it to happen but sometimes it just does.

The fight wasn't really between the Pistons and the Pacers, but more the Pacers and the Detroit Pistons fans.
The only figthing going on between the players was Ben Wallace shoving Ron Artest.

Why did they call 80's Pistons a "bad boys" team?

Sat Jun 04, 2005 10:35 am

nba marketing purposes

Sat Jun 04, 2005 11:23 am

The 80s Pistons were a very physical team, their tactics could be described as "dirty" much more easily than today's Pistons.

Sat Jun 04, 2005 11:41 am

That my friends (or shall i call it, my fiends  ) is what we call as basic TACTICS or STRATEGY! It's all part of the game... OUTWIT, OUTLAST, INTIMIDATE (KILL, DESTROY, MAIM  just kidding here!) ANYTHING just to WIN, dirty or clean!

Sat Jun 04, 2005 11:47 am

Can't say I personally agree with that philosophy, though it seems some teams and players find success with it.

Sat Jun 04, 2005 4:57 pm

jeez playing a little defense a getting called dirty, i guess i should be damn dirty because i play chest to chest defense all the time and give opponents a push and a hit or two...

Sat Jun 04, 2005 5:05 pm

players will take whatever the refs will give them i guess.
