How was Brent Barry's Dr J dunk any less impressive than Jordan's Dr J? Which was probably his most famous poster, with his tongue out and his hand cocked back and his feet pulled in. Barry didn't have quite the flair, but still 90% of a MJ dunk can get you a slam dunk title.
Kemp was an amazing dunker because he had the acrobatic flair that a lot of guards do these days. Most big men just power dunk, but Kemp would really twist his body in the air to snap up a lame Payton lob and throw it down. He was also a phenomenal blocker, he would literally windmill his arm to block a shot (with that much elevation he probably just could have grabbed the ball out of the air).
VC in his sophomore year was the best in-game dunker i've seen since Kemp, but he hasn't generated much since then.
Currently...not necessarily in order:
- Josh Smith
- Kobe
- Gerald Wallace
- McGrady
Did you ever see the highlight where someone threw up a alley-oop lob for McGrady that was too short, McGrady goes up reaches behind his head with his right arm and brings the ball to his left hand and dunks it? Unreal.
