Nowitski is a chump.

Sat May 21, 2005 2:15 pm

First he barks at Terry for not fouling Nash at the end of regulation. Then in the OT all he did was lose the game for them. I thought he was saposed to be their best player? He takes some really bad shots. Terry almost gave them a 2nd chance. But nowitzki is a chump, if anyone should have taken that 3 nowitzki missed, it should have been terry, or stackhouse.

Sat May 21, 2005 2:18 pm

I disagree. Sure, Nowitzki missed some crucial shots, but he's the best player on the Mavs, and Nowitzki is a good clutch shooter. Just because he missed some shots that he could've made, doesn't mean Terry or Stack would've made them. Heck, Stack was only 2-10 or something. Plus, Terry didn't even play good defense on Nash when Nash hit that three to send it to overtime. I'd get yelled at if I was Terry, letting Nash hit a virtual open three with a few seconds left with the season on the line!

Sat May 21, 2005 2:19 pm

Well it is his fault partially. He was angry and missed some baskets. If I was Dallas' coach, I would just put him on the bench!Maybe the Mavs would have won if he would just shut up and play good!

Sat May 21, 2005 2:34 pm

i would of rather had stack shoot because he was 2/2 in OT and i think he made some FT's also. Dirk was mad and just flipped shot up like they would go in, he let his emotions get the best of him and couldnt come through in the clutch. The display just showed me how he isnt a leader, and he barks at people and then doesnt back it up when he lost his cool. They could have won the game, dirk forced up a bad shot and they still had time to run a play.

and tonight, Jason Terry seemed like he was in a boxing match, making shot after shot. Even his comments at halftime made me believe he wanted to take this game over. Sure he should of fouled nash to put him at the line for two, but Dirk really let his team down.

Sat May 21, 2005 2:43 pm

They wouldnt have got that far if it werent for dirk, so it cant all be his fault. If you wanna blame someone, blame Finley and his 2/10 shooting.

Sat May 21, 2005 6:22 pm

Dirk brought them to the playoffs but terry won the series against houston. I think dirk should have been patient in the clutch moments plus he didn't even try to get the ball to take the winning shot. I think hes afraid..

Sun May 22, 2005 1:47 am

Hey guys, its simple as this, Nash is amazing! (Y) Hands down.

Sun May 22, 2005 6:36 am

if you watched the final couple seconds of the game it would've been pretty hard to foul nash considering he was literally running like a cheetah down the court. i don't think dirk was barking about terry's defense rather him not calling a timeout after nash scored. you can attribute part of the blame on stackhouse for just going downcourt and hoisting up a 3 with no set play, whatsoever.

Sun May 22, 2005 6:40 am

I actually agree he's a chump, Terry made a mental mistake, okay, but the guy is angry the rest of the game, and basically did nothing in OT. Not to mention that Terry was the one keeping them in the game in the first place. Then they're down 5, and need a basket, and the guy takes a fadeaway three pointer, are you kidding me, when you're doing nonsense like that, you have no right to talk.

Now I'm not even mentioning Dirk's stupid foul on Marion which cost them the game too. So he makes two bad plays + all the missed point blank layups, and he's the guy shouting at others for making mistakes, please

Sun May 22, 2005 6:51 am

And if Nowitzki made his shots...

He had a right to be angry for having Nash to send the game into overtime, and just because he missed some shots in overtime that he could've made doesn't make him a chump. If he was angry, he'd be fired up, and I expected him to be aggressive in overtime, but Nowitzki didn't deliver. Even I thought that fadeaway three pointer was a clever move since it caught everybody off guard. And besides, the barking came before overtime, and I didn't see Nowitzki talking during overtime.

Sun May 22, 2005 6:58 am

Yes, but why take a fadeaway three? Even if he made that shot it was a terrible shot to take.

...and without the shot, what about the silly foul on Marion? That was just stupid. I'm saying if you're the guy that's going to get in people's faces like that, you better step up your game, and don't make mental errors and mistakes yourself, and Nowitzki did not complete either of those tasks.

Sun May 22, 2005 12:06 pm

I agree, that was a bad foul on Marion. It could be due to frustration, and I do agree that Nowitzki didn't perform well on both ends. My only opinion on this whole thing really was that I think Nowitzki was entitled to yell at Terry for doing a poor job defensively on Nash at the end of regulation.

Sun May 22, 2005 12:09 pm

After watching Game 6, i agree Dirk is more or less a chump.
Look what he did in Overtime...
He lost the game for the team with some forced + poor shooting.

Nowizki is my favorite player, hes the best white Player in the league. He brought the Mavs to last years playoffs, and this years playoffs.

As for Nowitzki getting mad at Terry, it's only right for he is the leader of the Mavs team. But how Nowitzki channeled his anger in the OT period (trying to do it all by himself, forcing shots, ended up missing lots of shots) - now that wasn't good.

best white player? hmmm, i guess Steve Nash is just more of a leader then, since he is the one that lead his team to the conf. finals. BTW, Steve Nash did win MVP of the NBA. Oh wait..i forgot...Steve Nash is really black. :) Dirk really doesnt make his teammates better, he just gets alot of good stats.

Sun May 22, 2005 4:34 pm

would you look at that, Nash has Chump Stain on his shirt when he was getting the NBA MVP award.

Bill Walton called Steve Nash the best player in basketball during the ESPN broadcast of Game 6, which I found rather interesting. Forget the fact that such an assessment is made because of a couple of playoff series, or to be fair a single season, it's also ignoring the fact he's not much of a defender. The best players excel at both ends of the floor.

As far as Nowitzki is concerned, it depends whether you're summing up his career in general or his play in this year's post season, specifically the series against the Suns. While it might have been his place as team leader to react to Terry's play the way he did, he did come apart himself in overtime. As the saying goes, sometimes you're the hero and sometimes you're the goat.

But on a larger scale, if Nowitzki's shortcomings in this series warrant the chump label, then Kevin Garnett's string of first round exits surely warrants the same tag. And we better slap it on Oscar Robertson too - he failed to lead the Royals to the playoffs four times in his prime.

Sun May 22, 2005 4:48 pm

I just thought Dirk wanted to win so bad and he went about it the wrong way barking at Terry.

Yeah Terry was playing good, but they wouldn't even be where they are in the first place if it wasn't for Dirk.

I don't think the fadeway 3 was that bad a shot. He's made shots like that before. It's not high-percentage, but again, he's made shots like those plenty of times before.

Dirk just did a poor job leading and certainly didn't lead be example kin the closing minutes of that game. He should take some hints from his pal Steve Nash. He's been playing awesome lately and Friday night was another great performance. He's been showing why he's the MVP.

Sun May 22, 2005 6:07 pm

if it wasnt for terry the mavs wouldnt have been close. Terry is the one that carried them that game, 36 points, 5 rebs, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 blk, only 1 TO in 48 minutes, while playing in your face D against nash, and shooting 52% FG, 57% from 3, 4/7.

and he was getting yelled at.

Sun May 22, 2005 7:08 pm

All players have their ups and downs and Nowitzi is one of the most talented players in the League. I'm not sure what's missing on the Mavs but I can't see them winning a championship with their current roster.

Sun May 22, 2005 8:11 pm

just trade dirk to seattle in a sign and trade deal for ray allen and there you go.

Sun May 22, 2005 8:46 pm

that would result in Dallas having too much SG/SF type players

Sun May 22, 2005 8:49 pm

meh, i was thinking dirk was more of a small forward.
if they were able to trade dirk for garnett i think they would get to the finals.
