Manu Ginobli or Richard Hamilton?

Manu- Better defender, better scorer, finishes well.

Rip- Better midrange jumper, fantastic off-ball moves, a winner.

Manu. Don't know my reasoning behind it other than because my liking for the Spurs.

I like teh Spurs too, but Rip is a better defender and had a championship ring on his finger... Until Manu getsone of those(preferably this year ), I'll be picking Rip...

Manu Ginobili is a much better defender, a better passer, outside shooter, rebounder, and just as good a scorer. All Rip really has on him is his mid-range shooting ability. I'd definately take Manu over him.

I don't know where you all got the notion the Rip Hamilton is a better defender than Manu, I don't understand that one bit. Rip on the Pistons is at best even just a slightly above average defender. The Pistons put him in a position to not be a bad defender, but before he was on the Pistons, his defense was weak. Ginobili is a vastly superior defender on and off the ball, and is very underatted at least so far considering people put Rip Hamilton ahead of him defensively.

The only things Rip are better at than Manu are his mid-range jumper, and his speed. That's it. Manu's a better defender, ball handler, penetrater, 3-point shooter, passer, he's stronger and quicker, and he has some huge throw-downs.

Did you all see that play earlier in the year when he crossed over and split 2 Lakers players at the 3-point line, then drove to the hole and dunked on the rest of the team???

So obviously, I'm a big Ginobili fan and I'd take Ginobili, no contest.

Also, Ginobili does have a ring- he won it all with the Spurs his rookie year. (Not even to mention his Olympic title in the summer on Argentina, when he was MVP)

I would take Manu,he's more skilled than Rip.He can pass,shoot,dunk,dribble...Therefore,he's more complete payer,obviously comparing to Rip.

As much as I love Rip Hamilton, I'd take Manu Ginobili. I've seen them both play, and Manu is more effective in making good things happen on the team.

I have to with Manu, even though Rip is a bette scorer and mid-range shooter and is argually the most conditioned player in the NBA because he never stops running. I like Manu because he always does the unthinkable, always doing the hustle plays, and the man has the will and heart.

i don't know what is and even if the stats don't say so, RIP looked like he improved from last year. he is the more steady player that's for sure. and he did lead his team in scoring without making a FG in that one game. now that's something. or does that reflect detroit's occasional ineptness on offense??

if i were a coach i probably would want to choose RIP over manu because i've seen some popovich quotes on how manu drives him crazy.

but as a fan, i'd go with ginobili. he's more charismatic, has a flashier game, and is one of the few players that will have the last play drawn up for him instead of the mvp caliber duncan

Manu's a much better defender, plus he's in better shape.

Rip has one of the best (or THE best) mid-range shot in the L, but even with that, Manu is more complete as a player.

Similarities: Both of them have NBA Championship Rings
Differences: Manu is an Olympic Gold Medalist, Rip is not (coz Rip haven't play in the olympics yet)

If so, you're wrong. Reggie is the king of off the ball movement.

82games.com did an a very exhaustive and long analysis of clutch players, and while guys like Kobe & Gordon hoisted a large # of outside shots during clutch minutes, they also rated clutch defense, assists, unassisted points, drawing fouls, making fouls, etc.

Ginobli came in #1, with Wade narrowly behind him. I think Amare might have been 3rd.

Like Karl said, it's ugly basketball, but both Ginobli & Wade have an uncanny ability to blow by their defender and get slammed on the way to the rim and collect 2 points at the line, and win close games, and at the same time shut down the other team's perimeter offense.

So to sum it up...Manu.

Larry Hughes was also in the Top 5, and so was Gilbert Arenas, I don't remember Amare being high on the list.

Come playoff time i take RIP.....last year he was consistent from start to finish. He scored when needed and his stamina is amazing.

His defense is adequate enough, his job is to funnel guys into R&B Wallace, but i guess theres no harm in being better defensively.

When Reg is gone, Rip should be the best without the ball... he can run and he can shoot. I'd pick Rip over Manu though....

Manu is better at penetrating, taking the ball to the basket. He's good at One-on-One and he can shoot 3's, whereas, Rip can't shoot 3's well.

Yea thats what I meant. But Reggie used to be the best in moving without the ball and running his man on the screen and hitting the 3. As a Knicks fan I seen it too many times.

I'd take Manu. If Rip could shoot 3s i would of picked him, 3s are huge

Rip has really improved his passing as a Piston though, I'll give him props for that, I was noticing it last year, but this season, he's done even better in that area. It might be the system, but it's still real nice. He's a good player himself.
