this is how i see things

MVP: Shaq....he presence has made Heat a contender and not a pretender. Coincidentally guys around him are having career years. Let's face it, Heat are thin, but they managed to milk 59 largely due to Shaq's presence

Likely winner: Steve Nash

ROY: Ben Gordon...only because of his 4th quarter explosions. He's helped Chicago reach 4th spot and give them a chance to go into rnd 2.

Likely winner: Emeka Okafor

DPOY: Ben Wallace....there is no player in the L that has a bigger presence on the defensive end than Wallace, irrespective of stats. Sure Bowen & Artest can lock down a player, but Wallace affects 5 and his energy on D often gives Detroit offensive momentum.

Likely winner: Ben Wallace

MIP: Tayshaun Prince...perhaps a biased pick, but seriously, this guy has upped his defence this year and he's become an offensive force going for a few 20+ point outbursts. Finally he's listening to Brown and is aggressive. He's also shooting a good FG%

Likely winner: Bobby Simmons

6th Man: Ben Gordon....need i say more

Likely winer: Ben Gordon

COY: Nate McMillan....he was given essentially the same team with the exception of adding Fortson, and has managed to lead his team to 3rd in the West whilst beating some high caliber teams on the way (SAS, Phoenix, Detroit)

Likely winner: Mike D'Antoni

All NBA Team
C Shaq
F Duncan
F LeBron
G Iverson
G Nash

2

C Amare
F Nowitzki
F Garnett
G R Allen
G D Wade

3rd team is irrelevant, haha

How about we just use it for All NBA Teams 1-3 since everything else has been covered?

No, not even close, Reggie has had a great career and all, but that would just be a sympathy pick in a sense.

Guys that are battling for the All-NBA Guards spots:

Steve Nash, Dwyane Wade, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen, Jason Kidd. That's already 8 guys, Reggie does not deserve it over any of those guys, and only 6 of them will be making it.

I think Reggie has been more valuble to his team then alot of those guys, but i know the award isnt based on that.

That's very hard to argue, Kidd and Vince singlehandedly carried the Nets to the playoffs with a very weak supporting cast. Arenas was the X-Factor on the Wizards, and even through all the injuries kept dragging the team on. Wade, don't think I need to explain that, Allen Iverson doesn't need any explanation either, Steve Nash, MVP candidate, Ray Allen, lower level MVP candidate, and Sonics are 3rd in the West.

The only guy I can exclude would be Kobe, so that argument doesn't really stand either, I think your Reggie bias is taking over :P

A lot of people mention Bruce Bowen as a candidate, but he's not a defensive player and he's never been a defensive player. He's got a seven-footer behind him who can block shots. What's his defense? Run you at the seven-footer? You put a seven-footer like Tim Duncan behind me, who's gonna get defensive player of the year, me or Tim Duncan? The deal with Bowen is he's 6-7 and there's not many people who can shoot over a 6-7 person

Thank you Scottie Pippen, some people just don't understand, like I've said, Ginobili is better than Bowen.

What a crock of shit!
Bowen plays great 1on1 matchup defense, ive seen him put a lockdown on some of the leagues top scorers including Kobe n T-Mac.
He harasses the hell out of players, some might think its dirty, well go cry about it then, i think hes a real solid 1on1 defender.

Just coz Scottie had someone to make him look better, dont mean everyone else has to!
man i hate that guy lol always have

Bowen is a fine defender, but he's still a dirty player. Intentionally injuring an opponent isn't shutting him down, it's just dirty and certainly not skillful defense.

MVP: Steve Nash. He played the PG position better then anybody in the NBA. If he werent on the team and they had someone even like... Stephon Marbury, they would not be in the position they are in. He has had by far his best season and has been so huge for them. Plus they have the best record in the L.

Likely winner: Steve Nash/Shaq, its a toss up right now.

ROY: Ben Gordon. He is the man for this team. Yes, Emeka Okafor is the man for the Bobcats, but Ben Gordon is the man for a team that has the 3rd best record in the East!

Likely winner: Emeka Okafor

DPOY: Allen Iverson. I agree with Pip. He was on a team where they depended so much on forcing t-os and did it better then anyone else in the league. And he was the floor general.

Likely winner: Ben Wallace

MIP: Bobby Simmons. His numbers soared, and because of him the Clips almost went to the playoffs. Nuff said.

Likely winner: Bobby Simmons

6th Man: Ricky Davis. Its hard for me to say this as much as he killed us yesterday but I think Ben Gordon is getting too much talk in this category. Ricky comes off the bench with a spark, he scores, he plays defense, he pumps up the crowd, he does it all. I would love to have him on the pacers...

Likely winer: Ben Gordon

COY: Rick Carlisle. Yes, a very biased pick here but hear me out. Rick Carlisle had a team that never had there projected starting lineup that won 61 games last year on the court this year. Yet, he took a team that had 20 different starting lineups, there 2 best players missing a combined 103 games to the playoffs, with a respectable seed possibly winning the first round matchup.

Likely winner: Nate McMillan.

That's what I'm talking about, differentiate great from good. You can call Bowen a good defender, you can maybe give him very good [maybe], but when he get's called a great one on one defender, it's an insult to the guys who could actually shut down people consistently. Bowen can do it at times, but most of the shutting down he does comes as a result of the team defense. You don't often see individual players have big numbers on them, but Bowen isn't as good as given credit for. I just think people don't like to look into things, he get's called good, they see him one game play good, and well, that's all that's needed, he's a great defender now. Bowen is good, not great, and yes, he is cheap also, but we can ignore that.

It's effective, I'll give him that. But it's not skillful or within the rules of the game, so it can't be classified as great defense.

By the way, Alvin has posted his thoughts on the regular season awards in one of his latest columns.

lol, i just hate pippen, i dont know why, maybe coz hes an ugly mother???

i hate him y sum people hate Kobe i guess, no reson, just do lol.

I see where ya coming from now FGrep, personally i still think Hassell is probably better than him, but thats a different story.
the best perimeter defender is obviously Artest, but i looked at as saying that Bowen couldnt play defense at all.

but fair enuff, personally i think hes better than you and that bitch pippen stated though, but thats just my opinion lol.
