Where's Isiah Rider?

Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:20 am

Don't know if I spelled his first name correctly but where is I. Rider? Has he already retired?

Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:38 am

In purgatory...

Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:51 am

Rider was one of those "coulda been" players. Million-dollar talent, but a ten-cent brain.

Tue Mar 01, 2005 12:07 pm

Remember that no look, back to the basket, falling out of bounds chuck that went in? That was pretty amazing. Or was that Harold Miner?

Tue Mar 01, 2005 2:24 pm

who cares!
lol i cant beelvie this guy was one of my favourite players, so good, yet so fuckin dumb!

hes probably OD'd in a gutter somewhere, bloody idiot

Tue Mar 01, 2005 3:40 pm

Rider had som much potential and skill cept he never fit in with teams he played for... he was screwed in the head! Wasnt he one of those 'me first' guys.

Jeff, one of the great sayings: "Million-dollar talent, ten-cent brain" sums it all up!

he was supposd to be one of thoes "Next Jordans" right? they were talking about him on SportsCenter last month

Tue Mar 01, 2005 9:46 pm

Yeah, he was nicknamed "baby jordan", and he was a half decent player, but he shouldnt be remembered just for the nickname.

Steve Smith was sposed to be "the next magic", so they had "baby jordan" and the "next magic" on the same team. Somtimes i wonder if the idiots that gave these nicknames ended up as employees for EA.

Tue Mar 01, 2005 10:32 pm

He is in prison? What crime did he commit?

Agreed, that's a perfect way of putting it.

No Harold Miner was Baby Jordan, not Isiah Rider. According to database he had no nickname besides JR

Tue Mar 01, 2005 10:52 pm

I believe Matthew was referring to Harold Miner in that post. ;)

Ah yes, didnt pay attention to the full flow of this thread and missed a post with Miner question.

Rider was still good when he finished up with the Hawks I believe, still scoring 20ppg....waste of talent i guess.

Wed Mar 02, 2005 2:31 am

Except his last season was 01-02 -- he played 10 games for Denver with an average of nine points.

I wouldn't be surprised if he spent all his money on weed so now he's best friends with Ricky Williams.

IMO, Rider had HOF potential. With his strength, he could do whatever he wanted on the court. But he had a lousy attitude and could never fit in. Sad waste of talent. I hope he saved his loot.

Wed Mar 02, 2005 6:39 am

He's collecting dust in a closet somewhere.

Wed Mar 02, 2005 7:23 am

j.r. rider was a powerful dunker and he played the perimiter really well too. its a shame that he faded into obscurity like that.

Wed Mar 02, 2005 7:50 am

let this guy be an example to us all. drugs are bad, stay away, far away.

Unfortunately some won't listen, despite all the horror stories about athletes & drugs.
