Why do NBA and NFL referees wear uniforms with numbers on em????

I can't seem to understand. :?

Sat Feb 26, 2005 12:21 pm

so that you can buy it on NBA Store.

Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:03 pm

So you can tell the difference between the referees. Referee number 23 was in Boston while referee number 15 was in Chicago... and stuff like that...so Nba head ppl know how to schedule them, or the referees just want numbers to look special.

Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:24 pm

Maybe its just a way in case the ref gets a technical.... but actually, i think it must be a way of identifying who is who!

Sat Feb 26, 2005 3:01 pm

wisdom kid is right.

what the hell is the point for this crap

Sat Feb 26, 2005 4:16 pm

Does anyone have this 2001 year referee no41 card? I have it missing from my collectibles...

Referee with numbers is pointless, utterly pointless...

lol

:)

The real point was that Referees with numbers are pointless, utterly pointless...

Sun Feb 27, 2005 11:27 am

How is it pointless? It allows referees to be indetified easier, which has been said earlier. What harm does it do anyway?

Exactly...I don't know what the big deal is...

But he's right, it is used to identify the refs. And they used numbers because you could only imagine how many people would be complaining if, God forbid, they put their last names on a referees' jersey!

yeah your right, this is a pointless argument though.

Sun Feb 27, 2005 1:36 pm

I just wanted to know why do they have numbers...

Sun Feb 27, 2005 1:39 pm

no no! i wasnt talking to you, i guarentee many people had the same question, i was talking to people who were arguing whether or not they should have numbers.

not your fault jona

Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:51 pm

That's cool! 8-) (Y)

Sun Feb 27, 2005 3:13 pm

Well... i wonder if refs need to apply to have numbers higher than 55 like the players...

Sun Feb 27, 2005 8:10 pm

Probably not. Only the most egotistical referees indicate their own numbers when calling fouls.

Mon Feb 28, 2005 5:18 am
