the list goes on and on. its unbelieveable all these guys are now gone.

the guys i and most of us grew up watching, the guys of the 90s, which seems like it was just yesterday, are pretty much gone. its so sad to see all these guys gone.

I miss NBA on NBC, all the basketball of the 90s.

ya tell me about it. all the players i grew up with and loved and now gone. i think miller is the last of them(though i never even liked him). i loved most of these old guys and now that the game is in the hands of the youngsters i gotta say i miss the old days. the tv guys will constantly say that the nba is in good hands, but personally i think thats just cause they are paid to say it. in reality the players who have left us were much more than what we have now, but thats just my opinion. to much fighting now, to much of the "its all about me" attitude now.

I Love The 90s

We all miss the 90s, at least all those who were lucky enough to witness it. Half of basketball is it's history, and sometimes, I'd rather talk about what happend 10 years ago rather than talk about LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.

It is kind of fitting though that you mention it, with the latest news on Malone and this being Reggie's last season. The era's dying, man. Now all we'll have after this is Payton, O'Neal, Hill and maybe a few others you could include there.

And yes, I do love the NBA on NBC theme song.

There's always been fighting (I'm sure you remember when a sixer player held Bird defenseless while Dr. J whaled on him which was worst then "the brawl" to me) , and imo there's never too much. Shows me the game means something them. Reminds me I'm not rooting for nothing.

i just cant see myself being as hugley attached to the pacers as i am now without reggie.

i recentley bought tickets to 11 pacers games in indiana and the final pacers bulls game of the year in chicago. i spent more money then i even have (borrowed a ton from my mom)

not only just because of my love for reggie and this being his last season, but i would even if i wasnt a pacers fan.

the 90s is the era i grew up in and hes the last guy left really.

hill was a rookie in 95, oneal was a rookie in 92 but i dont really consider him the same era, and yeah payton was there but...

i dunno hes a little different to me for some reason.

The NBA isnt in bad shape. If you look at anything negatively it will look bad. When I look at the league I see the spurs with great teamwork, teh suns and sonics that just score and score and score, I see Lebron and Melo, I see Iverson doing amazing things by himself, I see Wade and Shaq in cruise control, I see the defending champs playing mediocre asketabll, just like they were at this point last season. I see Vince remerging, TMac proving he is a playmaker, Kobe trying to be a leader.

And I also see the bad parts: Yao and Darko being dispointments, Indiana's season being ripped away by the league, and minnesota imploding. But the good by far outweighs the bad, and thats why I love this game.

btw there is no way starks' name should be mentioned alongside jordan, malone and olajuwon's.

Man I really miss the 90's a lot too. Im only 20 years old now and I wasn't as big into basketball in the 90's as I am now.

But if you really think about it, I think you just miss it more now just because its gone. When I watched basketball in the 90's I didn't really enjoy it anymore than I do now. In 10-15 years from now when its getting time for the the players of this era to leave (except maybe Lebron seeing how he's only 20) I'm sure all of you are gonna miss it just as much as 90's basketball.

I think Stockon, Malone, Jordan, Reggie, Payton, Rodman, Mourning, Pippen, The Dream and Horneck (sp?) all need to come back and create their own team. Sure, they are old but they would kick some serious ass.

Bring Barkley back too! He maybe fat but I bet he can still ball! Hell, bring the whole TNT crew (minus the white guy, ernie). Bring back the Jet and Magic too. Make an old man team and they would dominate!

least we were privlidged enough to witness this era how i will miss alot of these superstars who were the pioneers for the modern game, in the way its developed from the old school era.

While I'm really enjoying this season (mainly because I can watch live games again), the 1990s is the decade I saw the most of us so I share the same kind of fondness and appreciation for that era. What disappointed me is how a lot of those guys ended their careers - battling injuries, coming off the bench in token appearances...not the case for all of them, but for the ones who did finish their careers that way, it just didn't feel right.

biggest memory of NBA in the 90s....Mario Elie's baseline 3 in Phoenix to finish them off, and he kind of kisses (using fingers from lips to air) to the crowd....and commentator's going "Elie's got that toughness that really helps this Houston Rocket team!".....awesome, and they won the title that year from a No. 6 seed I believe....it looked like Phoenix might finally get there, but I didn't like the Suns, so that shot was great....

The 90's were great. I especially missed the Shaq/Penny duo that was so exciting to watch, and vent my frustrations over the Bulls' titles (I couldn't stand them winning again and again!). It's sad to see an era end, but it's also exciting to see what the new guys will bring. We have more international players that don't really resemble a "me-first" mentality. We have LeBron James and Dwyane Wade that actually plays team basketball. We have the Phoenix Suns, the Kings, and Mavs that are actually shooting over 100 points per game. It's a promising decade for players and teams alike, so I can see good things for the NBA nowadays.

my favorite moment (yes im very biased) was when the pacers were down 2-1 in the eastern conference finals to the bulls, losing by 2 with about 4 seconds left and reggie hits the three that wins the game for the pacers. i have that game on tape and i often cue it up to that shot and everytime he does his little spinning dance down the court i feel like crying tears of joy.

the worst moment of the 90s was when they lost game 7 in that seiries after being up 18 at halftime

Easily the best NBA Playoff series I ever witnessed on a television set. Hilarious moment is seeing a bald Rik Smits and Chris Mullin run over to Reggie and celebrate. What made the game even more exciting was MJ's rim-out with .7 seconds left. I swear that ball was half-way down the hoop before coming back out.

i think i should have gone more into detail. when i said fighting i didnt mean fist fighting what i mean is all the BS that surrounds the game now. shit like iverson crying about practice or kobe and shaq. the fist fighting has been going on forever and is probably better now than it was in the 80's(god bless them celts and pistons). the fist fighting i can deal with as it shows the players care about whats going on(though running into the crowd for any reason is just stupid) but its all this cry baby he said she said bull shit that really sucks about the game now. thats what i meant and i can see how it got confused, i really didnt use enough words.
