Sam Mitchell the problem?

Sat Feb 12, 2005 12:38 pm

Sportsnet.ca -- Almost two months before Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell reportedly challenged Rafer Alston to a fight this week, he was in an actual fight with the team's former superstar, Vince Carter.

Sources, including a member of the Raptors and Vince's mother Michelle, have told Sportsnet that the incident took place in the Raptors' locker room after the coach challenged Carter to a physical confrontation. Feeling provoked, Carter lifted Mitchell and slammed him down on the massage table, Michelle said.

"Sam was talking about the incident at the team's Christmas party to a bunch of people, right in front of Vince, his wife and myself," Michelle said. "He just came out and said Vince whooped his ass, and I could tell it wasn't just a figure of speech. So I asked Vince what happened. He told me he couldn't take Sam's challenges any more, so he picked him up and threw him on the massage table. That definitely happened. No question about it. And if anyone says it didn't happen, they're lying."

The article also says that Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, Donyell Marshall and Lammond Murray all want out, and MoPete is worried about the whole situation.

Sam Mitchell is a odd man if this is true, and though the Raptors have been changing coaches constantly, I don't think he should stay if he does things like that. Now I actually sympathize for Rafer...

I had read an article that said Sam was at a red light and a guy asked him for change. The light turned green and Sam ignored him. The guy cursed and said Toronto was a hockey town. Sam said if it had happened earlier in his career he would have politely got out of the car and beat the shit out of him because that type of thing that bothers him.
So dude definitely got a little temper.

This is biiig trouble. I'm kinda shocked at the whole thing. If this is true, about management treating the players like shit, I'd like to see Babcock and Mitchell gone.

I heard they were play fighting, like WWE style, they got a little bored at halftime.

They should hire me!

Carter's mother directly said to the camera that is wasn't a fight or a beating, but a friendly shoving and having fun... It was also after a game, or practice...

Hey, If you can't take not playing because you're not performing... who the hell wants you anways....

Sam isn't the problem. It's just because they are loosing and Williams is an emotional wreck from the trade and being away from his family.
