Texan Mailman?

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- If Karl Malone decides to play again, it probably will be for the San Antonio Spurs, his agent said Monday.

Malone will make an announcement about his future before the All-Star break. The All-Star game is Feb. 20 in Denver.

``If he would choose to play, the likeliest candidate would be the Spurs, which is a team he almost played for a year and a half ago,'' Dwight Manley said. ``He's already basically retired because he's not playing. That would be a big step for him, to essentially come out of quasi-retirement and play.

``There are two possibilities. He's leaned toward staying where he already is. Where he goes forward, only he knows. He'll say that real soon. I'm not in the job of speculating. It's out of my hands. It's going to be what it's going to be.''

Manley said that Malone, who underwent knee surgery last summer, is healthy and works out every day, but has not been playing basketball.

I seriously believe that if Karl Malone signs with the Spurs, they will be NBA champions.
Well, even without him they will be...

How good will he be after this quasi-retirement? Also, what kind of production will he give the Spurs and in how many minutes?
Anyway, we'll see :cheeky: :hump:

I'm guessing Duncan will move to centre, and they will slot Malone in at pf

Their rotation would be screwed up too.

edit: Even if he signs with SA, that won't make him any Texan.

i would guess karl malone could get about 7 points and 5 rebounds if he came back.

with san antonio his numbers may be a little lower though, considering the low amount of playing time he would get.

They have a good chance of winning it all, obviously. They already have experience and they are the best team in the league. They have a great shot.

C'mon, man. How much harm can Malone do? He's willing to take a lesser role with the team, just like he did last year. It can't be bad having a future HOF player in your roster.

the only way i see malone as being a good sign is if he is willing to play back up to duncan. of course they would be on the court together at times but he definetly has to be a bench player imo to help this team at all.

i'll admit it, they'll win no matter what.

but i will agree that the rotation would REALLY be screwed up (about 4 PFs on the team?!). egh, but look at detriot with their bigmen..

i'd like for him to get the ring. and then get payton too! hahah and then play the lakers in the 1st round.

You have to be kidding. I'd take the ghost of malone along with duncan over duncan and rasho. Rasho is useless. They would have alot of depth as well, considering horry, rasho, and malik rose would be able to come in off the bench. Karl should go there, or Miami.

i think that miami would be a better fit for him. miami could use him at the pf position and he could easily be the 3rd option that miami is looking for.

Malone in SA would be boring. He should go to a team without big men/with developing big men, and not with the best big men in the league. Atlanta would be great, and so Portland, Golden State, Seattle, etc.

The only reason Malone wants to return is to get a championship under his name, I dont think Atlanta, Golden State or Portland would fit in that class.

that would defeat the purpose of getting a championship.

At this point in time SAS= champions....i'd like to see them play Detroit, that'd be a sweet matchup

What???? The odds would be against Detroit....both teams match up well on paper but Detroit struggles against SAS. SAS is also more consistant than Detroit and happens to have Duncan who will be a harder cover than Shaq.

It would indeed be an interesting match-up. Pay no attention to R3MO, he's more biased than that Tim Duncan dude. Hehe, an argument between those two would be fun (and mind numbing at the same time).

I'd pick San Antonio to win, Duncan isn't Shaq. He's careful with his fouls. Besides, he doesn't get called as easily as Shaq does.
