Reggie Miller

Sat Jan 22, 2005 12:27 pm

I should have put this topic up before Jermaine O'Neal Came back from his suspension but I was really busy. Does anyone think Reggie Miller can put up numbers from his early years in the mid 90's. Before you start to call me crazy his role on his team has strongly diminished in the past few years but when Ron Arterst Jackson and O'Neal were suspended Reggie stepped up big and had stats very similiar to his 90's days. Excluding the last few weeks his number were just over 20ppg with a few assists and rebounds. His shooting percentage was almost the same as when they were in the 90's. Sorry I dont have stats for this becuase since O'Neals returned he stepped down and his numbers diminished. Every now and then he still puts up rediculous stats though.

In my opinion I believe he just lets other player score more because he knows he is old and not the future of the franchise. Does anyone agree with me or am I really crazy?

I think he only scored 20 or so points like twice, I signed him to my fantasy team after he scored 35 or whatever and he did fuck all since then.

Reggie's still capable of having big performances from time to time, as proven by some of his games during JO's suspension. But the franchise is moving forward as Miller nears the end of his career and to his credit, he's accepted a lesser role.

18 vs the Heat tonight but most importantly two 3 pointers in OT!!!!!

Yes they were right in spike's face :)

Reggie wouldn't have been able to come up with this clutch performance if it weren't for Tinsleys 30 points including a shot that forced OT and Jermaines 26 points.

just when questions come up about reggie he does the big job in miami. good timing on the topic VCFAN ;)

If he still was at his best, then I think he would have scored a lot more when JO was out.

I remember his hot streak at threes when indiana had rik smits, reggie used to get so into it that he just couldnt stop :)

Of course older players degrade over time, but their knowledge is important to others. Like malones importance on lakers last season, but this ended badly since Bryant didnt exactly behave professionally during interviews that mentioned Malone.

The good "old" times are ending though, but reggie can still score :)

I believe these days it's a sign of age, when you can remember the 10th player on teams from the 90s. Jalen Rose was a member of the team you mentioned though; he was traded to the Pacers in the 1996 offseason in exchange for Mark Jackson (though Jackson rejoined the Pacers before the end of the year).
