Spurs now have the best record in the nba after defeating the Wizards on Monday. If Nash stays out any longer... the Spurs will most likely keep that position.

Suns have been terrible without Nash, they got something like 13 assists against the Pistons. Nash basically averages that :P
Play the game, win the fight!

They also gave Chicago the longest winning streak in the league at the moment. (Y)

I'm still more inclined to pick San Antonio over the Suns in the West, no matter what the final standings may be. It's been said before, but I think the Suns' lack of depth will hurt them come playoff time, if only because their starting five will be so fatigued or banged up from the heavy minutes during the regular season.

Spurs were always the best team anyway, before the season started...even if the Suns finish with a better record Spurs are still the best....it's their championship to lose

I think that if any one of the starters were injured, it would still affect the Suns record, if you look at the box scores of the Suns, for example them scoring 100 points, it's usually the starters scoring 90-95 points, and playing nearly all the minutes. How would they fare playing those minutes in the playoff series?

The reason you're not "scared" of the Lakers wouldn't be because of the first title year, would it?

Anywho's, as has been said, no matter what the standings I'd be inclined to pick the Spurs over the Suns. The Suns are doing well, no doubt, but San Antonio has...Tim Duncan. Says enough, no?

not really. not enough last year

i'm not so sure if this argument holds much water. in the bulls 1st 3 peat, mj & scottie were amongst the leaders in minutes played, ho grant not too far behind. and during the playoffs, coaches normally reduce their player rotations even more, especially pat riley.

amare, jj, marion, and Q are still spring chickens. those young legs should be able to handle it.

but it's pretty stupid when d'antoni is leaving those guys in games where they have no chance like this past week

Son of a...., . NBA.com updates quick. Yesterday right after the Spurs/Wizards game i looked at the standings and it said 31-9 for the spurs record... so i assumed that after the suns lost, the suns would be 31-9, spurs would be 32-9. Anyways, spurs own ("pawn") anyone they match up against if they were to go into the playoffs... they always finish out the year strong heading into the playoffs and pick it up a notch in the playoffs. When the spurs played the suns... it was a blowout game because great defense always beats great offense. Another riverwalk celebration, :P .

Sonics beat the Spurs both times they played them this season.

Sonics are like the Suns in that they run and score a lot, but they are much deeper than the Suns 5-man rotation and they have gritty guys like Danny Fortson who are willing to do the dirty work. I think it's a shame they're being forgotten. It won't suprise me if they get deep into the Playoffs or to the Finals.

i hear you, halfway through the season and still no love for Seattle. i think they might slow down a little but they will get one of the top 3 spots and make a deep playoff run.

"pawn" meaning the same thing as "own"... i guess pawn in australia means own because a lot of aussies use it on forums. lol... the sonics going to the finals. they wont even get past the 1st round with their playoff experience... i doubt they will beat the spurs anymore this season.
