What happends if a likely all-star player due to votes gets traded to the opposite conference? who does he play for?

for example, if VC got traded to a team in the Western Conference what happens?

I think the votes the player has already built up can be used for his new conference...

I'm also pretty sure the votes carry over. I'm pretty sure that it happened fairly recently with Kenny Thomas (or perhaps it was someone else), where he was listed on the ballot under the wrong conference as the ballot had been set before he was traded. Had he garnered enough votes to make the team as a starter, he would have represented the conference he currently plays in.

I remember there being a ruckus over Walker and Lafrentz. I think...

But if I recall correctly the NBA just said they would play for their new conference if they were voted in.

But the ballots had already been made since it's started ridiculously early. They weren't traded until September or something. The trade wasn't in NBA Live I remember that.

hmm, as far as i remember i think that either Baker or Kemp (forget which one) was traded to an opposite conference but was selected for the Conference that he played for before being traded. The NBA let him play for his ex-conference.....not too sure though

No matt, thats not true. Both Kemp and Baker made the all star game, but for their current conferences. Kemp was actually a starter for the east.
