Juwan Howard - jinx?

Fri Dec 10, 2004 11:57 am

Everytime Juwan Howard has gone to a new team, they always seem to play horrible (excluding Dallas). His late years in Washington, then Denver, Orlando, and finally Houston. Do you think he's the problem?

he hasnt been playing enough minutes to be the problem, i really feel bad for the guy he gets labeled as a team killer even though every organization hes been with says hes a hardworker everytime he steps on the court. wether theyre winning or losing

he can't be as bad as shareef abdur-rahim.. adequate player, but definitely not the player you want to have if you're tryin to get to the playoffs

the cause of the problem with orlando and houstons poor seasons.
Is the Tracy McGrady not Juwan. Tracy quits on the team and is a cancer.

Hmm okay...
Juwan isnt hurting Houston, but I'd love to see him play with the same intesity he had in washington when they were the most up and comming team in the nba (around 97). Tmac isnt totally to fault either, he just is in the wrong situation. JVG has to realise tmac has got skills and can dominate, and make his offense around that.

Or he could build an offence around a 7"6 centre, who seems to only get 12 touches a game.

He has to choose between one or the other... i would choose Yao's development ahead of T-mac... and that means building the offence around Yao.

As for Juwan Howard, he's good player but never seems to get any chance to prove it.

And Dallas' offense should revolve around Shawn Bradley? He is 7'6 also.

Yao Ming's lack of aggressiveness is hurting the rockets. How many times do you see shaq get outmuscled for position? Yao has all the skills to be great, but he's soft at the moment. He looks for destined to be another Rik Smits than a superstar of this league.

true. Yao is not aggresive at all.. freakin hell. And he doesnt have the energy to play 40+ mpg all season long...

I dunno but maybe more confidence will help him improve. Seriously, i agree he has the skills to be great. He needs to get more aggresive though and thats what everyone is tryiong to tell him to do.

I dont know if its a confidence thing. I think its more of a pride thing. Maybe Marbury breaking yao's ankles also broke his confidence.

I read that in asian bball, when u dunk ur showing off to ur opponent and it is told to players there not to do that. Maybe Yao feels limited to only pulling up for jumpers or taking hook shots rather than try and dunkl over his opponent or going straight to the hoop by strength.... he needs to fix that

Fri Dec 10, 2004 8:15 pm

I've seen yao dunk, so he musn't object to it that much... yao seems complacent with where he's at, and thats not good for the rockets. Look at how Amare, Lebron, Wade and even older guys like francis, Ray Allen and Nash have stepped up to help their teams. Yao has got to do that also.

But its not first nature (is that how u say it) or second nature (does that even exist) to him to be aggressive because he hasnt been taught to do that. I htink its a habit for him to play softly.... so he needs to overcome that and over time, if the ORkcets keep putting the ball in his hands and he mayu lose games for them he may learnt o attack the hoop more!
