thats bullshit, absolute bullshit.. i agree what artest did was way out of line, but out for an entire season? 30 games would've been enough.. had this been someone else doing it, say david robinson/jordan or whatever the league wouldn't even think about banning them from the nba for an entire season.. this all goes back to artest being an easy target by the nba (the controversy w/ his rap career did not help either) didn't kermitt washington get 60 games for ALMOST killing rudy tomjonavich with a severe punch? (it was an accident, i know) and artest gets an entire season for defending himself? where the fuck is the logic behind that one? well, there's really nothing you can do but blame those out of control piston fans for ruining it for the pacers, im glad they got the shit kicked out of them by JO, jax and artest.. especially that fat fuck that got pulverized by both artest and JO in a matter of 5 seconds

Okay, so Bender is actually going to be out for a pretty long time because his knee is acting up, they'll have to start going to Reggie again whenever he comes back.

A lineup of:

PG: Jamaal Tinsley | Anthony Johnson
SG: Fred Jones | Reggie Miller
SF: Reggie Miller | James Jones
PF: Austin Croshere | That other guy [???]
C: David Harrison | Scott Pollard

Bender won't be back for a while, and I don't know what is happening with Jeff Foster in terms of how long he's out. The biggest struggle will be for David Harrison till Pollard returns, he doesn't have the stamina to play so much.

Fun for he Pacers

Okay, so the central division will come down to The Pistons and The Cavaliers now? Can Miami get the number 1 seed in the east?

As much as I like Reggie, I think it will be VERY hard for the Pacers to keep up at number 1 in the Central with JO ( their best player) out for a extended time and Artest out for the year.

OH yeah the ironic part about all of this is a couple weeks ago Artest was considering retiring..wonder if this could bring those thoughts back..

I think this punishment is totally unfair. Indiana's season (and I'm not a fan of them..) is totaly phucked up because some idiot in detroit threw stuff on some Pacers?? WOW....someone must tell minnesota's fans to do the same next time the Spurs visit the Target Center...maybe the T-Wolves they can win the ring this year.

I think the Palace in Auburn Hills should be the only one disqualified for the entire season. I can't believe that Detroit got the most out of it. They have just eliminated a contender....I'm vomiting. :miserable:

Now...this thing really made me to log in once again since like almost 4 months
David Stern is the mothafucker who should get his ass kicked
this guy doesn't give a shit about the players of the league.
He only cares bout the fans because it brings money to the league.
He singled out Dennis Rodman in mid 90's, then it was Rasheed and now it's Ron.
Man,,, these guys might have some nasty tempers and stuff, but i wonder what david stern would do if someone throws a bottle at him in that situation? Anyone would lose his/her temper no matter what.
Maybe David would just chicken out because he doesn't know how to fight.
Did he ever play a basketball game? Does he know the things get real fired up if anyone's in that situation?

On a certain level, Jerry Sloan can relate with Ron Artest.
Back in the day, when Sloan played and the NBA didn't even fine players for such indiscretions, the Jazz coach was goaded into going after a fan.
The site was Kansas City, and the moment was not one of Sloan's proudest.
"I was in the stands," he said. "I hate to admit that. But a guy hit me with an aerosol can, right in the huddle — and it kind of got me a little bit unnerved."
"I should have been smarter," Sloan added, "but I wasn't."

Entire season.. come on. Even if he deserved a whole season (which I don't think he did) look at his suspension in proportion with the others. Stephen Jackson 30 games? O'Neal 25? Jackson had some good hits on those guys, Artest's hits were mostly either blocked or he was being restrained. And O'Neal's 25?? He flat out destroyed one guy with that flying superman punch, and he doesn't even suffer half of what Artest has to suffer.

EDIT: Miller suspended for 1 game? Isn't he injured anyways?

so the stupid pistons fans got what they wanted, the pacers are probably out of the race for the east
so they can beat a shorthanded team for the second time in two years, because you saw they couldn´t handle the pacers at full strenght, just like last year...the pistons don´t win because of their own strenght, but the other teams weaknesses...

as nhl fan, i can say such a nba season is nearly as bad as a non existing nhl season!!!

the whole thing is so ridiculous...

David Stern had a chance to make an example here, and he fucked up. The fans have gotten away with what they did... Lets have a look at who got what:

Artest: Season
This is appauling. Stern wants to say Artest has had self control issues in the past. Lets forget the fact he showed alot of poise from not retaliating to Ben Wallace. Lets forget the fact that he was confronted by the fans on the court. Lets forget that the fans were the first to throw punches at artest in the stands. Lets forget all that, and lets suspend Artest for the rest of the season to try to keep the image up. To quote stevan a while back "[David Stern] I hope you get assasinated"

Stephen Jackson: 30 Games
Okay.. Jax deserved somthing. I respect he went in to help a teamate, but 30 fucking games. I wonder If Charles Barkley recieved such a punishment when he got involved in the DR.J/ Bird fight. Absolutely not. David Stern, I hope Dennis Rodman kicks you in the balls.

Jermaine O'neal: 25 Games
Oh great, Jermaine didn't even go into the stands. This shows the stupidity shown by the NBA in this incident. How the hell can you blame Jermaine for acting this way? A chair gets thrown at him, beverages are thrown, fans are on the court trying to get a peice of him, and he gets suspended for defending himself. This is fucked.

Ben Wallace: 6 Games
I also think this is harsh. Wallace shoved Artest, but shaq threw punches at brad miller and only got 3 games. That's hypocrisy as well. At least he didn't get a double digit suspension.

Reggie Miller: One game
Once again, good work David Stern, you cocksucker. Reggie was in there trying to get Artest out of there. He didn't throw a punch, he didn't do anything. I commend reggie for going in, like i commend Rasheed. But the nba suspends him? What a crock.

Chauncey, Campbell and D.C. probably got suspensions for leaving the bench.

I hope the players union stands behind the pacer players. This is totally wrong by the NBA. If this happened to me at work, I'd leave. In a situation where everybody had to held accountable for what they did, the players have become the scape goat. I never thought I'd say this, but I hate this game.

a drunk derrick coleman and shawn kemp on crack would've handled this situation 20,000x better than how stern did

Ron will get his money you watch and I bet he will be back in 60 games as well. Players Ass. did the same for Spreewell. I agree that Ron got what he deserved at no point should he go into the stands. It human nature etc but in his posistion its not the right thing to do. The fans were out of line and in the wrong but Ron has to learn to deal with it and let security handle it.

My only concern over the suspensions is Jermaine got quite a hefty ruling. I mean he never entered the stands and the only thing he did was hit a fan who was on the court and too me that is fair game. Plus he doesn't have the record Ron does. Jermaine deserved 10-15 max, 25 seems excessive too me.

Jax also got what he deserved. He should have acted the same way eddie gill and harrison did and thats get in the stands to hold Ron back not create more problems. Unfortunetly he got heated and caught up in the moment which is understandable but still wrong.

Overall: Pacers have a tough hill to climb but Jax and Jermaine could be back quicker than expected with appeals etc and if they have to serve out the max sentence they will be back in the lineup by exactly mid way through the season. Theres a great possibilty they can make a 2nd half push and get into the playoffs. I mean Boston made the 8th spot with a 36-46 record. Everyone knows Indiana is capable of more evident in the recent game vs Detroit so as long as they make the Playoffs anything can happen. Not too mention if Ron's suspension is reduced he could join the team 10-20 games before the playoffs even start.

All in all as a Pacer fan I am dissapointed at the actions of the players on my favourite team but I still have hope that things will be adjusted and they will become more united than ever as a team and take there shots in the playoffs.
