I have only been able to watch them play a bit this season, but I like the record they have. Steve is leading the league in assists with 10.2, Amare and Shawn are each at roughly 10 rpg, and they're putting up the most points in the league. My worry is of course they're lack of a center, but running a lot hides it well. But when you've got the biggest points scored to points allowed difference in the league that's just fine.
Although their schedule has been very easy so far, they still look good. Tonight's game vs. the Kings is big.
A few stats:
Amare - 24 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.6 bpg, while shooting 51% from the field and 82% from the line.
Nash - 12.2 ppg, 10.2 apg, but he has 3 turnovers a game which I hope improves.
Marion - 16.6 ppg, 10 rpg, 2.6 spg, 1.4 bpg, with only one turnover a game and lots of huge dunks.
I love this team.

Their top 3 stars are all close to averaging double-doubles.

Like i told nick, the way they are playing. They seem to be title contenders, and without a real centre

I bet he doesn't, he has liked this team before Steve Nash came back.

Colin liked the suns since the Marbury days. Don't question his loyalty.
I don't think the suns are a lock for the playoffs let alone title contenders. But I can't pick a team to win the west. It's like a game of musical chairs..
Sun Nov 14, 2004 9:31 pm
title contenders, i doubt it.
If you can control the tempo of the game then you win. This team reminds me of NJN in a sense. When they controlled the tempo and got out on a break they would win. When they played HC bball then they struggled, but Phx is a better HC team. Anyway, the point is, to get onto the brak you need to force turnovers and rebound, you do that by playing defense and Suns aren't as good defenders as Nets were
If they play SAS they are basically screwed, no one can match Duncan. Marion is too small and short and Amare isn't a good defender. Plus the Spurs are good at controlling the tempo

Wrong! In fact this has been one of my favourite teams since the Kevin Johnson and Rex Chapman days, and my absolute favourite team since Marbury.
On Nash, I strongly dislike all those people around me in Canada who like Steve because he is Canadian. Like him for the way he plays the game.
They lost to the Kings by one frickin' point. I hope Chris Webber crawls back under the rock he came from, because if he puts up numbers close to his 28 and 10 or whatever that team is
very good. And I hate them.
Next game is played in Steve's old homecourt: Dallas.

When they play teams with a big line-up either JJ or Q will be coming off the bench depending on which one is better. And one of those chumps that play center will play.
Turnovers and free throws...C'mon guys.
The Suns have shot themselves in the foot by committing 9 more turnovers (so far), and shooting 45% from the line compared to Dallas' 82%. Dallas has eleven more points off free throws.

Get rid of those the Suns are up by 13.
(make that they'd be up by 16, just checked the live stats)
edit: SUNS WIN!!!
It's not often someone ends up with 10 TO's, but still has a 1.8-1 ast-to ratio. Nash had 18 assists tonight to go along with 17 points. Amare was the star with 34 and 11, while shooting 66.7% from the field.
Dirk had a good game with 20 and 16, but was 6-17 from the field.

amare is sick.. he throws everything down like he's playing on a fischers price hoop
on a side note 18 assists / 10 turnovers isn't that bad if you compare it to today's standards.. i mean you have players like richard jefferson who's averaging 4.1 assists and almost 6 turnovers.. as long as the suns win i'll take 18/10 anyday

Good gravy, i love this team. Four double-doubles.

They are doing as good as in my dynasty
Amare is tearing it up.
Has anyone got a torrent of the game against dallas?

Welp, Amare is currently leading the league in scoring (and FG%), he also won player of the week, Nashy is leading the league in assists, Suns have the 2nd best W/L record in the league.
Things are sure looking bright for us Colin.

The Bobcats are coming
yeh when I first started really getting into the NBA the Suns were my 3rd fav team, Knicks 1st then Spurs.....but I liked Starbury n the Matrix combo n also like Uncle Cliffy

...
but then they went down n well got a bit boring, I still like em tho..but currently the Suns r pretty low in my fav team list.... Spurs at top(always loved em), Knicks(love em, but dont like Isiah's style) n Nuggets(bandwagoner) oh yeah n I got some love for the Hornets cause I like B Diddy, JR Smith(fav rook n possible fav player soon) n of course Birdman(only proud Rock lover in the NBA).
Hope the Suns do well, Amare is just sick....and all this playing at center...just amazing...but the Suns need to get a really good big man, maybe next years draft they could get a good big man...7 foot with good meat on him would do...Suns could be strong contenders if they do get that real power pact center.
Dont worry Im not gonna bandwagon the Suns, cause they dont have any of the players I like(A List of 10)....though Amare is starting to creep into my list and might knock Camby off

steve nash for prime minister once he retires
i wonder if both dallas and phoenix will retire his jersey when his playing days are over
Wed Nov 24, 2004 8:46 am
I'm trying to count how many dunks the team averages per game, I was critical of Q-Rich because he was a Clipper and I felt the Suns were wasting the money on him, and so far he isn't proving me wrong with his horrible play.
I'm loving how Marion is doing, him Nash and Amare are making a good conection, and are the league's best 3 man group so far.
I don't know if they'll both retire his jeresy, Nash hasn't really done anything to be considered "great", especially for Phoenix since he was there when he was young and now that he's older but hasn't really taken them anywhere.
It would be like Phoenix retiring Kidd or Marbury's jersey, it would be kinda odd.

Suns still going strong. Nash's assists have dropped off a bit, but Marion is getting even more rebounds.
Too athletic. Just too athletic.
My dad said he's going to try and get me a white Joe Johnson jersey at the team shop when he's in Phoenix in a couple weeks.

But it's for Christmas

Quentin woke up!!!
37 points, including 18 second quarter points. And 4 second quarter three's. Can't stop the hustle.

I just have to contribute in this thread by saying that the Lakers will get the Suns back on Wednesday
Sun May 08, 2005 4:48 pm
Jeez Colin, why are you raiding the cemetary for dead threads? Because the Suns are still kick-ass. And even though some people *coughMattcough* weren't even sure if they'd be in the playoffs looks like it happened.
I wanted Houston to win the last series, but I despite my dislike for the Mavericks I started to wish a victory by them. Only because a team that plays a good fastbreak playing the Suns means more fastbreaks for Phoenix. And no one in the league can compete with that.
Thoughts on the upcoming series?
BTW, Nick. It's still a thread for me and you, I just changed the name of the thread.

Go Mavs!
