Suns Sign Center Steven Hunter
Posted: Aug. 20, 2004
The Phoenix Suns announced today the signing of free-agent center Steven Hunter.
“Steven Hunter’s athleticism, shot blocking and rebounding ability give us an added dimension to address the need in the middle,” said Suns President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo.
Last season Hunter played a career-high 59 games and blocked at least one shot in 35 games, including a career-high-tying five blocks on Feb. 18 vs. Utah. Hunter started in 23 games, averaging 5.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 21.6 minutes during that span. His season averages were 3.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and a career-high 1.24 blocks in 13.4 minutes. Hunter scored a season-best 15 points (also had season-high nine rebounds) in 32 minutes on Nov. 8 at Houston.
I was hoping that the knicks could of landed either Steven Hunter (or keon clark) but i guess thats out the picture now.
Like it says above.... “Steven Hunter’s athleticism, shot blocking and rebounding ability give us an added dimension to address the need in the middle.
A great pickup imo he can run the floor and play defence, been a big disappointment so far but i think the suns style of play will suit his game.
