Dampier to Dallas...?

Postby Riot on Wed Aug 18, 2004 8:44 am

Nearly official and being reported on several sites...

According to the below post at realgm.com, Dallas sports radio is reporting that next week as soon as the 60 days pass before Laettner can be traded again, he will be sent along with Eduardo Najera to GS for Dampier and Eschmeyer.

http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=273624

Laettner & Najara for Dampier & Eshemeyer
Picks, Cash and other scrub players will likely be added. The deal will be official in a week when Laettner can officially be traded.

This is a pointless thread. If anything, this would've been all over the place with articles from around the country if this deal was bound to go down. It doesn't even make sense for the Warriors because Dampier wants the money from the Hawks which is $55 million. The fact that it came from a forum and there isn't no true link to the proof that he has makes it even worse. I can see if they had an article about it, but this could just possibly be a Dallas fan posting this  I can easily go to a Grizzlies messageboard and post something about Dampier coming to Memphis for such and such. Will you look at that and post it on here because it came from me?

Why would they write articles at this time of day?

Anyways, they said it will take a week for the thing to go off.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but at this time of the year what can hurt but post a little news. If you don't like it, don't read it. It's the NBA section and I'm going to post NBA rumors. Stop trying to be mr. mod and telling what I should post and what I shouldn't.

Don't read my damn posts if you don't like it. I wanted to post this so I posted it.

What you talking about? You showed it to me on AIM as soon as I signed on, then you told me you was going to post it on NLSC because you thought it was going to get alot of posts. So why wouldn't I post in here? It's pointless. I guess I will go to grizzlies.com and post some news about the Grizzlies getting Dampier for Bo Outlaw  and hopefully someone will read it and take it very seriously and post it on here. Nobody really posts anything on here unless they have proof of an article or the trade has been mentioned on TV. That could just be a regular Dallas fan talking and you actually want to post something like that on here?

Hmm, I don't think this is very reliable. As has been mentioned, it's just from some guy that made a topic. He could've just worked it out with the trade checker orso.

If I'm not mistaken the first post (of the link you provided) was posted at around 9.30 from what I see.

I'm sure nosey journalists would have come up with some type of a story. The Mavs are known to pull big trades and Cuban doesnt hide from the media.

Anyways, this could be very well true but I'd rather have a link to a story than one guys version. My sources aren't reliable but it's from reporters who I'm guessing go sniffing around. I don't really know how much sniffing this person did.

You signed off and sign on right away. I was going to talk to you anyways.

I already posted it on NLSC.

Plus, what is it hurting you for? Get some disscussion back in the DISSCUSSION forum. If you want to be bitchy go to another thread. I didnt' say you had to respond to it. I was just showing you it. You also im me about bullshit grizzlies trades that someone posted. So just don't respond to my posts if you don't like my quality of posts or my damn post selection.

Articles aren't reliable either. Rahim to Wolves is almost a done deal Chad Ford wrote.

Yup, good going. It's hard to tell. But Grizzlies know they can't get much for Dampier. So why let him go? They get to dump Eschmeyer too. So all in all, this deal makes SENSE. I'm not saying it's true but it's just a rumor. More than one person is saying they heard it on their local radio station. That's almost as reliable as an article.

Ok, ok Riot.

It's all good man. No worries. We won't give our opinion. Expressing doubt about a story is a crime these days. :?

Well, it's not the best source but in reality, what source can you trust these days? 90% of the trade rumors we heard don't go down but we still report them. Why can't I report this one.

It might not be an article but that doesn't mean it's not credible. Even if it isn't, it brings up a good question.

Maybe they will try to get Kidd too. :D

Anyways, since you seem so adamant on discussing this...

I doubt Golden State would bite, they've got a better deal coming from the Gizzlies & Knicks. They've been really hard headed with those two teams so I find it hard to believe they'd accept that from Dallas.

Harris will start ahead of Terry? Why?

lol I forgot about terry...

Yeah, what is New York offering though? I don't think you'll see Dampier signing with Atlanta, I think Golden State wants to get something back in return for them. Rightfully so too.

Well I was going by what hoopshype was saying and from the articles I saw from there. I knew the Grizzlies wasn't getting him when they said the Hawks were going to get him because they said the Grizzlies were out of the race. I just don't see how a trade like this would still be even in the Warriors mind, I guess they were being selfish and wanted to trade Dampier to a team except the Grizz

selfish? I don't think they really care what team they send it to as long as they get the players they want.

I don't think Mullin was going we are talking dampier to anyone but Memphis! They're evil!

No, they wanted Swift from us and we would never give them Swift. So why they wouldn't take someone from Dallas like Josh Howard or at least STACKHOUSE! We could've gave them Outlaw who contract runs out and is 6 mil along with picks and some more players. So that's what it seems like it to me that they would ask Swift from us and then ask for crap from the Mavs.

I bet that's the best they could get now. I bet dampier was threatening to leave and they had to do something fast. Picks, Cash, Leattner is expiring and Najera replaces Cardinal.

Wait, when did Cardinal get involved into this? If you mean that the stuff they recieved from Dallas replaces Cardinal as a player on the Warriors then you won't know until you see what they do with the cap and picks. I know it doesn't replace Cardinal this year because I'm pretty sure Leattner and Najera won't make the Warriors any better than what they are. So you won't know if the Warriors got such ag ood deal out of it until you see what they do with the picks and cap.
