i could see this being a problem if it wasnt a personal issue but the guys talking about his family which at the end of the day is fair enough.

i think the lakers jerked payton, he went their and took a pay cut, it didnt work out but he was expecting to be playing there this season so in my opinion i have lost respect for the lakers organisation in many ways.

also the east is loaded with quality point guards, he probabley doesnt feel upto it but i dont know, i read an article on espn about how payton can really make an impact this season if he reports to the celtics, im sure his fired up to prove the haters wrong after his mediocre playoffs, which at the end of the day it was. how the hell did he fall off so quick? payton plays in an offence that flows through the point the triangle offence doesnt maybe that was the problem but thats no excuse for his defence.

Well, if Payton gets to play in the Rockets... :o , that would be an awesome trio to watch (Payton, T-Mac, Yao). Maybe there could be some ball-hogging problems, but JVG can work that out

payton t-mac and yao?.. i know t-mac can co-exist with yao but with payton too? i'm not too sure.. i'd rather go with the old mobley, francis, yao combination instead

who would Houston give up for GP? Lue/Howard/Gaines??? maybe...
I see what he's saying: The Lakers used GP to get Malone. THat sucks cuz after Milwaukee, he could have gotten so much more money...

They did do the guy pretty dirty, he signed back to the Lakers obviously because he wanted to be there and was ready to try it without the triangle offense. GP in Boston makes the Celtics even stronger and could cause some problems in my Sixers division, so I hope he goes West, but I don't wanna see him go to Minny. I think they've got good chemistry and they're cool with Hudson/Cassell at the point, he would be nice in Houston though if he was willing to dish the ball alot which I'm not sure he'd do.

I really would like to see Gary Payton back for the Lakers, but that aint happening. If he says he doesnt want to play in Boston then he wont, so he shouldnt expect to see him there, I think the Clippers might be a good situation for him, and for Shaun Livingston if he doesnt mind giving up minutes in exchange for learing from Gary Payton how to be a succesfull guard in this league, and specially on the the defensive end, it would be a good situation for Livingston aswell.

thats not true. the celtcs still got the better of the deal as we are finally going to be under the salary cap next season. we gave the lakers a whole lot of junk and walked away with cap space and a draft pick. this is definetly in the celts favor in my book.

on another note, i think the lakers definetly did payton wrong. they only signed him to trade him. that was just wrong. if they didnt want him why not resign fish? i rather have him anyway. that being said i also think payton is wrong for not reporting. i personally am getting sick of the nba where players can demand trades and refuse to report.

He needs to suck it up and play for the Celts. Didnt he wanted to leave at first anyway if Shaq was traded. He know what was goin to happen.I dont even wanna see him with Houston. He needs to go back to Seattle to end his career

Why should he suck it up? He blew it all out when he signed for LA in the first place. You people forget he's doing all this for a ring. He know what was going to happen? Yeah, he thought he still might have a chance, a bigger chance than with Boston atleast.

For the sake of going against you, I'll say he should sign with Houston.

You like my spunk? Meh, I think you're a skunk.

You don't have to not want it to happen. Are you David Stern? You're just afraid Yao-McGrady-Payton would burn KG & co.

I don't blame Payton, he agreed to sign with the Lakers, only to find out he was their trade bait? Someone said on these forums before

Someone wrote:fuck them before they fuck you

I guess they were right... Payton is just another victim.

Besides, his prime is over, he can retire early (sort of) and be a streetball legend or something.

I can see Payton's point of view, but as demilioso said:

demilioso wrote:Nothing here changes the fact that Payton is not disrespecting the Lakers by being a baby, but instead disrespecting and fucking over the Celtics.

His protest seems to hurt the Celtics more than it hurts the Lakers (assuming the trade isn't cancelled), though there would be a silver lining for Boston in the way of cap space next year.

Payton will be in Boston this season, . Boston is in a win win situation with payton either he plays or misses the season in which case the celts get cap relief the same way the bulls will with Mutombo if he doesnt want to play there or they trade him on either way there cool coz they got Banks back so i cant see how they can loss.

I don't feel sorry for him because it was his choice to play for the Lakers.

If I were Boston, I would not trade him. Let him retire if it is that big of a deal to play for the Celtics.

bah, if i was the celts i would wait 60 days and trade him back west, who cares what we get for him, give him to a team for a draft pick, even second round. he dont wanna play for the celts then trade his sorry ass, we already got 2 point guards who needs the minutes to grow, we dont need no washed up old timer demanding the court time.
