The Nets are going to have a hard time next year unless they pick up more depth.

They also signed Rodney Buford (prolly starter at SG) and Jacque Vaughn... This team is gonna suck.

this was a nice move by the clips. kittles is a better fit then 'Q" is with the clips- as he is the better defender & shooter but more importantly won't battle w/brand+maggette-0 for shots and gives them another ball handler

let the countdown begin on the jason kidd blockbuster trade
Jump.

Martin was for 1st rounders :)

Anyways, I see Kidd demanding a trade soon....teams that need a PG like Dallas or Houston could use his service.

Kidd is definitely gone unless the Nets manage to grab Shareef (which is unlikely).

I don't see how they could nab Shareef now, without Kittles. The Kittles deal didn't look likely anymore, with Van Exel in POR now...but still.

I think they're preparing for their move to Brooklyn. Clearing Cap Space. Y'nah mean?

They just like having $15M in trade exceptions so they can snatch Erick Dampier or Jamal Crawford for draftpicks and getting draftpicks themselves from helping other teams with trading BYC players.

Richard Jefferson makes $2.2M this season and his qualifying offer for next season is worth $3.1M. Hardly capspace. The Nets will benefit most from Mutombo's contract expiring ($14M off the books).

Jefferson is still on his rookie deal. He's gonna cost the nets a bit to retain... accumulating draft picks isnt always the best solution. Look at orlando. They had a bucketload of draft picks and the only good recent pick was mike miller, who they traded for gooden, who is now a cav.

New Jersey is a mess

Dwight Howard was a pretty nice pick by the Magic.

They could've gotten emeka.. who imo is a better player now and would fill their biggest hole. But that draft pick, the number one, was theirs, not one they got from trading...

Emeka is great, I love that guy, but Howard can become great as well, he has more potential than Meka. It was just a toss up. Looking at Orlando's history with injured players (Hill, McGrady) I wasn't surprised they took Howard over Emeka who had back problems in college.

i will agree with dwight having a bigger upside, but emeka is alot better right now... defensively, he has all the tools to be a gun. offensivley, he needs work. dwight howard needs to develop both offensively and defensively.. so i'd go with emeka, even if his back is a bit crook. he reminds me of a younger alonzo mourning..

Yes, Zo is a nice comparison, though Meka needs to improve on offense to resemble Zo more. I think Meka is/can be a better rebounder than Zo as well. Bill Russel would be his ultimate comparison.

Geeze.. imagine if emeka plays at that level defensivley on shaq... but i dont think he is shocking offenseively.. he could get better, and if he doesnt, he will still be a strong defender.. so thats a sure thing. where as with dwight howard, just look at tyson chandler

I doubt Meka can contain Shaq, he can try though.

Had Chandler not injured his back, he'd be a lot further with his development.

I guess they really wanted to get rid of Kittles. It's basically the same story as the K-Mart trade. It's a deal that looks very bad for New Jersey until such time that it proves to have paved the way for some grander plan.

I dont think he can either.. wouldnt it be cool if he did do well against shaq tho.

Tyson Chandler still hasnt proven why he was the number 2 or why he was traded for elton brand. maybe in 2 or 3 seasons... but not yet. if dwight is this slow... it wouldve been a mistake by the magic imo
