i must agree that the addition of B Barry is perhaps the most important signing in the L. Not only were the Spurs a top 2 team last year, but they have added a really potent player to the mix

I'm gonna say that Spurs are gonna be in the Finals for sure

I dont. The spurs were already the best in the west with shaq going elsewhere. Is Brent Barry going to the spurs bigger than Kobe staying in la? no way.. it was a good sign by the spurs, and made them better... but i could write a similar article of non sense about the pistons getting mcdyess...

What the hell were they thinking when they agreed to play 12 games at The Pond, just to accommodate Kobe?

First off, there was no way he was actually signing with them.

Second off, even if he were considering it, the move-the-games request is the moment when you stand up for yourself and say: No!

i think the Barry signing is very significant. First of all it solidifies San Antonio as the best team in the West. We all knew they were, but now there's no case to argue against

A guaranteed title now that Brent Barry is a Spur? It was a great deal in terms of how cheaply they got him and he's a nice addition to the team, it might even seem like a safe bet. Then again, picking the Lakers to win the title last year seemed like a safe bet, too.

there is no egos on the spurs like the Lakers had

Right now it looks like Spurs and Detriot in a All-Defensive NBA Finals
( final score might be 61-58!!)

But don't count Miami out. Shaq is going to get them some players ( who doesn't wanna play with shaq besides kobe?) and is going to deliver them a title he says. He already saw the Pistons strengths and weaknesses in the finals so he knows what to get out there.

The Spurs can be beat, by a team that is willing to get physical with them. Before that was the Lakers, but on the new Laker team I don't see the mental toughness that defined them before.

I have to agree, the Spurs are not a guarantee, however, on paper, they are one of the strongest teams. If their 3 point shooters are hitting their 3's consistently they will be difficult to beat. In the playoffs last year, the shooters were not on. That's why they got Barry.

No one can stop San Antonio once Tim Duncan gets going. As much as you say they can, they cannot.

Once Tim Duncan gets going, the team gets going.

It used to be this way with LA, once Shaq got going, the team used to get going.

I see it happening in SA once again, a dominant bigman with the correct side-kick & complimentary role players & veterans.

They've got speed, they've got quickness, they've got bang bang type players, this team is one of the most, if not THE most balanced team in the league.

Yes, yes...I know, Detroit won the Championship..not SA.

Tim Duncan is the best player in the league. Period.

Once you surround the best player in the league with the correct players, you've got yourself a championship. As simple as that.

Oh, a question before everyone responds with much hatred, after Shaq...who's the most dominant in the league? Who can get it done night in and night out? Kevin Garnett? He's got the overall stats, but can he will his team to win? No.

Duncan can.

hedo? he's not that great. maybe he didnt get much chance. but i like barry more than hedo.

spurs has a very good chance to win the west. they have the best inside player in the west. they have 1 of the better pgs in the west and they surround these 2 guys with good shooters in horry, barry, ginobili and bowen(3pters only)

they have a bruiser in rose n willis as well. damn that willis, he's so old yet he looks like 34-35. hehe

bowen is a good stopper as well. and that devin williams or whatever his name is looks good. energy off the bench

While Duncan can't be stopped, he can be slowed down/bothered. All you have to do is be physical with him and interrupt his rhythm when he's trying to do his moves down low and he will get frustrated. That's why those quick double teams are so effective and also why Karl Malone had so much success against Duncan.

I wouldn't say the season is over at all. You never know what happens during the regular season. Maybe Pop loses control or makes more coaching blunders during the playoffs. Maybe BB doesn't buy into playing tough nosed defense for every second he's on that court. Keep in mind that BB isn't exactly renowned for his defense (neither is Hedo, but 2 years ago, when the Spurs did win, they did have Jackson as well and he's a good defender).

i feel a little bad for hedo. his first few years he looked pretty good, especially in the playoff series against the lakers when he was hitting those big shots. but now it looks like he's digressed and lost it upstairs

there's still plenty of offseason to go...let's hold off on the prematurely handing of the o'brien trophy la laker style

I don't think anyone has given that trophy to the Spurs yet, but they certainly are #1 atm

in related news, the Pistons signed Ronald Dupree to a 2yr deal and Rasheed has been signed for 5yrs $57million...that's a pretty good deal

yeah he got cut last season. Detroit seems to have a close to finalized team. Mike James and Fowlkes won't be back. Ham is a 50/50 and Hunter will most likely get a 1yr deal
