Skinner's impending departure - free agents can officially sign a contract starting July 15 - means the only centers on the Bucks' rosters are unprovens Dan Gadzuric and Daniel Santiago.
Harris and the Bucks' braintrust have inquired about the availability of several big men, although the list is dwindling daily. The top-rated free agent center, Mehmet Okur, who played for Detroit, has agreed to a deal with Utah. Also, centers Marcus Camby, Adonal Foyle and Mark Blount have returned to Denver, Golden State and Boston, respectively.
According to several NBA officials, the Bucks have interest in Golden State's Erick Dampier, as do numerous other teams, along with Utah's Greg Ostertag, Washington's Etan Thomas, Boston's Chris Mihm and Memphis' Stromile Swift, who is more of a forward.
Dampier and Ostertag figure to be out of the Bucks' price range, while Thomas and Mihm are restrictive free agents, meaning their respective teams could match any offer the Bucks present. It is highly unlikely Washington will let Thomas go, but Mihm could be available after the Celtics decided to retain Blount.
The 24-year-old Mihm is an intriguing prospect. He was a highly-regarded prospect after playing three seasons at Texas and was the seventh overall selection in the 2000 draft by Chicago. While he has had four non-descript pro seasons, Mihm is a fairly athletic 7-footer with a nice shooting touch.
In 76 games last season with Cleveland and Boston, Mihm, who was born in Milwaukee, averaged 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in just 17.5 minutes.
The Bucks aren't only in the market for a center, though. They are also actively pursuing a point guard. Perhaps the most surprising player to be linked to the Bucks is Derek Fisher, who was a key member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fisher played all seven seasons of his pro career with the Lakers. He started all 82 games during the 2002-2003 season before becoming a backup last season after the Lakers signed Gary Payton.
Fisher, who averaged 10.5 points two seasons ago and 7.1 last season in 82 games, is considered the most prized free-agent point guard available now that Steve Nash agreed to terms with Phoenix.
Mark Bartelstein, Fisher's agent, confirmed the Bucks' interest in Fisher but refused to divulge much more.
