No I don't think they're being racist. If they were, they would have traded Karl Malone a looooong time ago. They also had many black players when they were in the finals. And European players aren't necessarily "white". Okur is Turkish and I don't think he is considered "white". However, I think from a player's standpoint, Utah is not really their favorite state (no offense). So I would imagine that the Jazz have a hard time luring free agents to Utah. But I really don't think this has anything to do with racism. Teams get players based on their talent and not based on their color.

Europeans play a different style of basketball as we all know then most current NBA and NCAA players, a style that utah thinks can lead to winning in the NBA. So you see, utah isnt going against blacks, they're going against the american way of basketball, which just happens to be filled with mostly black players...

Lol, you guys realize that with the 16th pick of the 2004 draft, the Utah Jazz seleted Kirk Synder, SG from Nevada. A black man....also Mo williams, 3rd string PG last year, is likely to come back and he is black. Raja Bell (I think) and Jarron Collins are black as well.....so it's not all that bad :P. If Arroyo comes back, he doesn't relaly add to the "white" guys because he's Latino...

Maybe this is a David Stern conspiracy......since there won't be NBA teams overseas for a while the Jazz might be an all euro team :D

No conspiracy, I think. They just want to make a good team. It would be interesting to see Utah as all-white team vs some all-black team(s)...

Its obvious! Jazz want to win one way, TEAM. If they will get a bunch of black players who will view this as an oportunity to get 25+ for themselft every game, then they will loose. Eg Magic.
Jerry Sloan is a team guy, back then Malone was great only coz John Stokton was there, they played as a team.

You don't have to worry about that. As for this topic, from what I've read from Utah papers over the years is that they're more interested in having a team of "good guys" who play hard rather than a bunch of spoiled NBA players, which is why guys like Sprewell, Iverson, and others would probably never be offered a job by the Jazz. Also, you need to take into account that many NBA players, whatever race, don't want to come to Utah (Derek Harper). The Jazz always seem to have a group of hard working overachievers who may not be the most talented players, but they play hard every night.

notice how this so called white team almost made the playoffs with this 'white' team? Maybe they notice that whites will work together and won't have the egos of some blacks. Who knows, it could just be a coincidence.
being a 95% white city could also have some impact, i'd really hate being the only black person i see every 10miles

I don't know a lot about this situation but I really don't think they are to concerned about the color of their team.

They got the players on the team who they think got skill.

Just my thought

Wow that's a little ignorant, on the opposite end their's teams like Detroit, Milwaukee, New Jeresey with their "selfish" black guys who play together as a team

Detroit is what I would call lucky. they have hard worker Bif Ben and no superstars, rather funemental players who have suffered defeat over and over. And the main part is THE COACH! And they have Bilups, who is very selfish and at times the most arrogant player on the floor. But having a team like he does, such things can be overlooked at times.
NJ only wins when they play with JKIDD, This year, all of te sudden K-Mart though he was the leader and went off, they 2guard took bad shots all the way and RJ just wanted another chance at the dunk contest.
And the rest of the team who u mentioned: thats what is wrong with them, they want to show off that they are playoff players and take control. Teams such as Dal have done well with out Walker and Jamison, Kings done too well with out C-Webb.
People tend to forger that basketball is a TEAM game, even thogh is is mentioned 10000 times every game.
It is just a thing in the NBA and around basketball in USA, that because alot of Black athletes come from rough areas they belive that they are the best. Its not racism but just a thing. U go out and watch a steet game and u'll see white players passing the ball and screening while blacks dance with the ball and dunk.
Just go out and look!

The thing is that instead of going out to look, I play, and that's now how it goes
