The Unlucky Raptors

Postby fgrep15 on Thu Feb 19, 2004 12:31 pm

I think playing for the Raptors organization brings people bad luck.

Today Bosh and Carter both went down with left ankle injuries. I didn't see Bosh's, but Carter landed on Bruce Bowen's foot after taking a jumper and the land wasn't pretty.

Well hopefully these aren't long, becase if so it kills the Raps for a while, they were doing so good today too.

If they are out for long is means no Rose, Bosh and Carter. This means Marshall is the go to guy, and he can't do that, he more of feeds off the other stars on the team with his good finishing and shooting.

START SCOUTING

Even if we make the playoffs we won't be a top team in, so at least we can get 14th or 15th pick in the draft. Our pick is protected between 1-18 lol.

No really its only a season if they don't return soon, but with the looks of it I dunno if that happening.

Obviously New York is surpassing us, but Boston isn't really showing much promise either. I see Miami making a run.

raptors are just so injury prone. They better get healthy soon or some hungry team like Philly, Boston or Miami might come and take advantage and take their spot in the playoffs.

The 4, Bosh isn't a Center, he's just too small.

tough luck for Raps....they've gotta finish the games better...like few games ago vs Lakers lost by 1, the game before lost to Pistons by 1, yesterday lost by 2, today lost by 4...if they wanna be a true playoff team they will have to improve on their fourth quarter play to close out games...lately they haven't been doing well at that part of the game..and let the game slip away...they could have be like 31 and 22 instead of 25 and 28...and it gets tougher for the Raps fans as they face Nets,Kings and Nets again this week..good news is that after those tough games they will be playing Wizards,Celtics back to back...this ought to be a little easier on the raps to close out the month

i dont think raps are going to get anywhere with vince carter .... they need to trade him ... he gets injured every year .... he's the new Penny Hardaway of the league.

Nah Penny was better ;)

But seriously, the Vince Carter is the most unlucky superstar in the NBA today. It's as if some guy's got a vince voodoo doll and is just jabbing it with pins all day.
He also loves being melodramatic everytime he gets knocked to the floor.

Another season brings more bad luck with injuries for the Raptors. It seems whenever things are starting to look up, Vince suffers a bad landing.

He's still got further to fall though. It's very easy to turn ankles by landing on someone's foot in the game of basketball, especially when you elevate as Vince does. I'm starting to doubt that Vince will reach the level he was expected to be at before all the injuries, but he's not done. He's just got to find a way to avoid mishaps.

Carter out 2-4 weeks, the playoff hopes are dwindling, Bosh could be back tommorow, but he should take more time off.
But really its not that bad since Boston has lost 9 of the last 10, and Miami's schedule isn't that great, so Raptors can remain 7th.

Carter left Wednesday's game versus San Antonio in the fourth quarter after injuring his left ankle. Test results showed that he suffered a moderate left ankle sprain. He is expected to be sidelined for an indefinite period of time

Well they showed replay's of Vince Carter's landing which was delibrately impeded by Bruce Bowen. That's pretty disgusting, why would a played do that, its just uncalled for, the NBA should put some rules on this and maybe fine players for commiting such an act.

A few weeks ago too Ray Allen was complaining about Bowen using cheap tactics on defense. I have lost all my respect for Bowen's D, he's a good defender and very hard working, but thats just not cool.

Vince said: "I question whether it was an accident or it was on purpose, because it's not very often you see someone putting their foot right up under you like that."

Well I guess he was right.

I dunno man I saw Tim Duncan yesterday rolling on the ground because he got hit in the face. If it was Vince people would say common you baby get up and take it like a man, I think people are just critical/irrational towards Carter feeling pain when he gets hit or injured, because I've seen many other players do the exact same thing but only hear complaints when its Vince. How many of us really know how much pain he's in? How many of the coaches, players, reporters, fans, staff etc really know? No one, none of us do so their no logic in analyzing that he's acting as if it hurts more than it does.

I agree. The same thing happened to me years ago when I used to play in my local junior league, when we faced a particularly dirty team. Any attempt to deliberately injure another player should be a type 2 flagrant foul, which warrants immediate ejection and a fine...and I believe a possible suspension if the league feels it's necessary.

Carter Moved to Injured List, Bradley Activated

Postby fgrep15 on Sat Feb 21, 2004 5:45 am

Carter on Injured List

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have activated forward Michael Bradley and placed guard/forward Vince Carter on the injured list with a moderate left ankle sprain.

Well at least Bradley is back, we could have used him all this time because he's a pretty solid player, very good rebounder and can finish unlike Archibald.
