Knicks-Hawks-Bucks Trade

Postby Amphatoast on Mon Feb 16, 2004 8:42 am

Knicks Hawks and Bucks made a 3 team trade today

Atlanta center Nazr Mohammed and Bucks forward Tim Thomas will go to New York and the Knicks will send Keith Van Horn to Milwaukee. Also, New York's Michael Doleac and Bucks center Joel Przybilla will head to Atlanta as part of the deal.

Interesting trade. Isiash really wanted Nazr and he got him. I'm not sure if Tim Thomas will be a upgrade from Van Horn. Both players lack defense, but I think Tim is a bit more aggressive and likes to dunk it unlike Van Horn.

Nazri gives the knicks size, but tim thomas.. he seemed like another KVH. Maybe he can develop... who knows? Its still a good move, but the knicks maybe shouldve looked to upgrade their pf position first.
I still like it tho :)

i don't like this move...Tim Thomas is worse than Van Horn...at least Van Horn has the size advanteage over Thomas..Atlanta got totally raped in this trade..Bucks did get more size person...well i think this is a pretty bad trade for Knicks

Is it true that the Hawks will have upwards of 40 million in cap room after this season? They could be looking at some crazy shopping this upcoming off-season.

I'm guessing the Hawks have a backup plan in case no one's interested in all the money they'll be able to wave around in the near future. Since they remain in rebuilding mode, I wonder if they'll get rid of Terry and let Sheed go, as Milwaukee did with their big three. Seems to be a new plan every year for Atlanta; as the Bulls have shown, that's not the best approach.

I agree that this trade seems kind of pointless for the Knicks. Thomas isn't necessarily an improvement over Van Horn, nor is he necessarily a worse choice. For the Bucks, same story, names reversed. Nazr is definitely an upgrade over Doleac for the Knicks. Atlanta's simply dumping contracts.

Right now, I'll say it was a decent trade. New York getting Nazr from the Hawks is probably the closest thing to a steal in this deal.

Stephen Jackson is the 3.

On the day he was traded to Atlanta last week, sources say, Wallace called his ex-teammate, Damon Stoudamire, and said he'd already made his mind up to take the Knicks' exception next summer

yep....now at school all the Nets fans turned back into Knicks fans, Isiah has pretty much locked up GM of the Year award, turning a financial trash can team into a playoff possibly conference finals contender. I wish they had fired Layden back in November for thanksgiving or something. Oh well, better late than never.

Yeah, I can see what you mean, but we've pretty much seen what we can get out of Van Horn. However, Tim Thomas does still have some potential and maybe being in New York might motivate him to work harder and be better than Van Horn.

lol maybe...they only have one white person on the team now (Cezary Trybanski)...I guess Isiah is just trying to clear Layden's nightmare team which would of probably consist of a all white squad ( van horn for spree? come on..) anyway let's get off the race topic, many people get offended easily on it..

actually Atlanda's starring likeup is

C-Michela Doleac
PF-Sheed
SF-Stephen Jackson
SG-Dion Glover or Wesly Person
PG-Jason Terry

Atlanda is re-building and i think they are gonna end up like denver in the free agent and draft time this year (but i done really care about this team)

Sources said the Hawks plan to waive Doleac and if he clears waivers, the Knicks will move to re-sign him. The Nuggets, Jazz and Clippers, however, are reportedly interested in claiming Doleac.
