do you like the slow type of bball that we see now or freeball and fastbreaks of the 70's and 80's?

personally i like NBA the way it is now. Its much more strategic than run n gun bball. Besides i love watching defence. The one thing i don't like is the low FG% on open jumpshots. I'm not bothered with isolation plays in the game, but zone defence pisses me off. No intensity, and no individual responsibility. That's why i don't like watching the Mavs.
DEFENCE!!!!!! DEFENCE!!!!!!!! DEFENCE

I enjoy slower paced games in the playoffs. Every possesion become that much more important.. and thats why i didnt like the Kings/Mavs series last post season, we were getting ridiculous scores.
The zone D and missing open J's pisses me off too..

If the game was faster paced like the 60s and 70s and to a lesser extent the 80s using a zone would be impossible.

I don't really like defense, so I'd prefer the Mavs and Kings style.

The primary purpose for any team in any sport should be score more than the other team, not just hold the other team!
I said that in another thread: I'd watch any game that has 100+pts. Watching 70pt games is just annoying. Someday teams will have only rebounders in the roster... and I just can't watch 5 Big Bens playing against 5 Dennis Rodmans... (although this would probably be funny :D )

I like the nba how it is at the moment. It tends to have its fast and slow bits which is good so it has a bit of everything. NBA today is what i like  (watching Kenyon Martin get shut down on Tuesday by Ben Wallace i think was the ultimate, Suck on that one K-Mart)

I like it fast. Its not entertaining to me to watch a slow-paced defensive fought out game. I like seeing the dunks and alley-oops and stuff like that.

I said impossible, I didn't mean impossible, I meant impractical. I apologize.

defensive games can have their dunks and alleyoops as well. It depends who runs the point and who's on the ned of the ball i.e Kidd to RJ or KMart

i find blocked shots, especially around the basket on layups or dunks as entertaining as a dunk itself. Anyone remember that masssssive block B Wallace did on A Walker in 2002? He just rose up and spiked it like it was a volleyball

as far as entertainment goes, i like watching NOH, especially when Davis and Wesley have their J goin on. My fav team is the Pistons though, but they aren't one of the most entertaining teams in the league i must admit. They win games though so i'm kept happy :D

I'm not sure if its the same, but in the playoffs Big Ben blocked Kenny Anderson.

Thanks to modern medicine, "what can today's basketball players do better than the players that came before?" Bob Cousy asks, "run, jump, and finish on the fast break. These kids play higher above the rim than anyone ever has. So what kind of offenses do most teams use? They slow the game down. So what are the major weaknesses of the modern player? Dribbling, passing, shooting from the outside. And what are the primary skills you need to play walk-it-up-the-floor, half-court basketball? [Dribbling, passing, and shooting?] Exactly, none of it makes any sense."

I like both. I like regular season basketball, which is competitive but more likely to feature "gratuitous flair". I also like the playoff style of basketball, where more attention is paid to defense and the danger of elimination and the prize at stake makes up for the slower pace.
