Van Exel wants to retire in Texas

Postby Fresh8 on Sun Feb 08, 2004 6:02 pm

I've read that Van Exel is trying to land a contract with a team in Texas...i believe it said that if he doesn't get picked up by Houston...San Antoinio or Dallas- he'll call it quits...

He said that he wants to play for a contender and most importantly in Texas

Personally, I'd like to see him play for Houston but Dallas will probably try to get him back!

It didn't surprise me that this news is about 3 or 4 days old and nobody posted it here... I think nobody cares about it...

Van Exel is a whiner and a crybaby... As a Warriors fan, I long to see him gone... He was traded from Dallas to Golden State... so what? Accept it and obey your contract, damnit...

Van Exel not returning

Golden State's Nick Van Exel said this week he wants to finish his NBA career with one of the three Texas teams. Even if the Warriors are willing to move Van Exel by the Feb. 19 trading deadline, don't expect the veteran point guard to be reunited with the Mavs.

League rules prohibit any traded player to be dealt back to the team that traded him within a one-year period. The Mavericks traded Van Exel to the Warriors on Aug. 18 in a deal that brought Antawn Jamison to Dallas.

And yea this is a few days old, but no one really cares about Van Exel.

Oh o....I see Nick going to Houston..
Lately I've been hearing a lot of rumors about Steve Francis getting traded since his game style doesn't fit with Yao Ming's. Francis would surely get his Franchise tag back if he went to the Warriors. Nick will have to understand to pass it to the big man, but he shouldn't have a problem with that since he is basically demanding a trade to Texas and doesn't want to get traded out of Texas again.

If he'll accept a buyout and a paycut, he might be able to sign with the Mavericks this offseason.
