All-Star Voting Update; Shaq hanging on to lead

Postby Andrew on Thu Jan 15, 2004 9:48 pm

All-Star Balloting Enters Home Stretch

Voting closes January 18th. The starting lineups still look the same:

East
C: Wallace
F: O'Neal
F: Carter
G: McGrady
G: Iverson

West
C: O'Neal
F: Duncan
F: Garnett
G: Bryant
G: Francis

Shaq's lead over Yao is slim, but the Diesel isn't out of the starting five just yet.

Pretty much as last year. Tough I'm a Rockets fan, I hate to see Steve Francis starting. I would have Gary Payton rather

The All Star game is to entertain people, we all know that...so most people must be thinking, what's more interesting than watching a 7'4 feet chinese giant shooting jumpers right?

How bout watching Shaq crossing over? C'mon guys, look at the stats, Ming doesnt deserve to start just yet. :P

Who else would you vote for Mikki? Look at how many decent centers are in the east. Ilgauskus is plain boring and Curry still has a way to go.

i think you're contracting yourself there

what's more interesting than watching a 7'4 feet chinese giant shooting jumpers right?

we all know yao's offensive arsenal isn't limited to just shooting jumpers. washington and boston sure agree. to each his own, but watching a 7'4 player with skills is a spectacle in itself

i for one would rather see yao ming starting or at least playing a majority of the minutes at the center position. shaq's great and all but he's been slowed by injuries and there's a chance he may still be troubled by them come all star break.

Who else would you vote for Mikki? Look at how many decent centers are in the east. Ilgauskus is plain boring and Curry still has a way to go.

duncan is considered by many as "boring" yet he's a lock to make the west's all star team every year... even if there were more quality and "less boring" centers in the east, i think ben wallace would still have spot on the east's all star team

I agree. I mean, Brendan Haywood is on the All-star starting voting ballot.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think Tim Duncan is boring. I like watching him play. I like how he shoots off the glass. I love seeing T-mac throw down another amazing dunk, but I wouldn't call Duncan boring. I hate when he disappears for a quarter or two, though.

As far as the all-star starters? Same old, same old...

One person I'd like to see an All*Star is Artest. He's been playin great this year.

the funny thing about Ben Wallace being the starting C is that it will be his first time playing C since last years All Star game

Rick Adelman will be coaching the West this year. Since he gets to select the replacement and Peja should make the team as a reserve, I expect Adelman to go with his guy if Kobe has to sit.

Actually, Adelman will not be representing the West this year. He isn't eligible to coach the Western All-Stars because he did last year.

My mistake. For some reason, I thought he coached the West in the 2002 contest.
