M.Bibby is a Member of a New 'Dream Team'

What the hell is he doing in the list of USA Dream Team. Is he second PG after Jason Kidd? No, he's not worth to be here. I'm not saying he's not good. He's really good. But how about such players like Stephon Marbury, Baron Davis, Steve Francis? I think it is a matter of racism. Do they think that white man is smarter and better in a floor general role? Probably, yes.

Maybe you know other reasons???

Steve Francis

Steve Francis? He doesn't really deserve to be in an All-Star game, let alone the Olympic team. I agree that there are more deserving players than Bibby to be a guard on the Olympic team, but this:

I think it is a matter of racism. Do they think that white man is smarter and better in a floor general role? Probably, yes.

Is grossly inaccurate. Bibby's mullato...he isn't caucasian, so this isn't a race issue. Jason Kidd's the same way, Doug Christie, Lenny Wilkins, etc. He's just light skinned...there's no racism involved in this at all, or if there is, it's reverse racism. Of course, is there a white point guard in the NBA who would deserve to go to the Olympics? Don't think so...so the whole racism thing? Nope, not happening in this case.

The decision to put Mike Bibby on the US Olympic team was not based on race.

I agree that I would put Francis, Baron, or Stephon ahead of him though. Maybe Payton too.

He was just on the qualifying team, not the dream team

To echo what Shane and Gripni posted, racism isn't an issue.

I remember David Stern wanted to get away from the "Dream Team" concept, but I believe the loss at the 2002 World Championships has seen a compromise. Team USA will be stacked with enough talent to dominate the competition, but won't be the NBA's best from top to bottom.

what race is bibby anyways? kidd? i've always been curious.. if they're a 'mullato', what is that..

i think bibby deserves to be on the team.. marbury, francis might be better but they're more like shoot-first point guards and you don't really need that in a team that has a lot of capable scorers..

"Mullato" means they're part white, part black. That doesn't necessarilly mean that one's mother or father is white, but that somewhere along the lines the genes for the lighter skin color is there. Henry Bibby is fairly light skinned, and I think his wife is as well, so that's probably why Mike is so light. Kidd's probably a similar situation.

Well...I hope that USA brings out this team for Athens later this year...but might not happen!

C: Shaq/Duncan
PF: Jermaine O'neal/Malone
SF:Garnett/Vinsanity/T-mac
SG: Kobe/Allen/Iverson
PG: Kidd/Payton*

*Drop Bibby for Payton

This team won't compete...but if only it did...

Biby is the coz he's a good player and u could also argue that maybe not every player want to be in the olimpic games, coz maybe they want to spend their summer at home or working out, playing international during summer take alot out of players, so mabe coz Biby playes for a playoff team him beign a bit worn down isnt a big loss for him team. I fu know what i mean, players like Francis need to spend their ime more with the team.
and players such as RJ and Colling are there coz i think They have been putting in Collage player in ever since and RJ coz he is just an add in, the top 7 player get the most time and the rest are role players.

Basically, SOME reasons why US players don't join US Olympic teams are:

- Injury...if a player gets injured, it's not good for their NBA team and my friend told me somethin bout it costs a lot of money if a player on a contract is injured...(Not sure bout the money part)

- Some guys prefer to not represent their country...don't know why- I think it would be a tremendous honour! But apparantly players want to spend their Summer preparing for the next 82/+ season....working on their games....

As for RJ, he was put in by the coaching staff....so they might see something in him... (I don't like him anyway...) And I think it's a custom to include a college player...or something like that....it's just very strange

But for Athens I think USA will bring out a team of NBA stars...I don't think they will have any college guys...And I thjink they will cos they want money from endorsements!

And players want to spend their vacation with family and friends instead of playing ball.

Nick Collison is on the team because he's been on the Junior Olympic teams and what-not for a very long time. The Committee is familiar with him.

Maybe it's the same with RJ...not sure though.
