Best ever? Nah, I'd probably go with Magic, then Stockton.

Best in the league? Yeah, more than likely.

Kidd is top ten all time. Maybe top seven. I'd put guys like Magic, Stock, Big O, Frazier, Payton, and Isiah(not my top 6 in that order) above Kidd, judging by how they were in their primes.

Sorry, Kidd might be a top 10 choice for the best PG ever, but not number 1. You gotta give props to people like Magic, Isiah, and even Stockton who are better than Kidd. If Kidd catches Stockton in the assist all time list, then I'll probably give Kidd a bit more respect.

Kidd gotta average 20 apg for at least 6 seasons to be near Stockton on the all-time assists ranking...

heh anything is possible :D
It just goes to show you that Kidd isn't the best all time. When you think of Kidd, you think of passing but stockton just owned that catergory all time.

hmm de ja vu!

did somebody say spam? where?

I think Baron Davis, Lebron James, Kirk Hinrich, Marbury, Payton, Jaric, Garnett, Cassell, are all better than Jason "wife beater" Kidd. Kidd is horse face.

Oh, there it is.

On Stockton: dude was getting 13 assists back in the day, guys are struggling to get ten right now. I think Kidd will have to do well to catch up to Mark Jackson :)

I would rather have The Baron, Payton or Starbury than Kidd, franchise would be in the list if he could pass better.

But my pg rankings for right now, Kidd, Starbury, Baron, Payton, Franchise, blah blah

damn right.

Didnt we have this topic last NBA Season?

Anyway:
1.)B.Diddy
2.)Starbury
3.)The Franchise
4.)The Glove-he's the reason why jkidd knows everything right now.
5.)LBJ-Such more of a mismatch for other PG's. He'd beat kidd in 1-on-1.
6.)Sam Cassell-PLayin some great ball right now. Plus look where Minnesota is right now.
7.)Kidd

Kidd may be 1 of the best but his style is different from everyone else. And he's not the greatest of all time. Magic, Stock. etc.

GP

Postby sliccat on Sat Jan 10, 2004 3:03 am

The best PG in the league is and has been GP since MJ left(that's Magic Johnson, for the idiot shaking his head). Why?

1. GP is the first(and only) Defensive-oriented in the history of the nBA and beyond that his offensive game is better that anybody else's too. Who else is a threat to get 25ppg 9ast 6rpg 2spg?

2. He always WINS. he can carry anybody to the playoffs, j-kidd couldn't even get dallas to win, and PHX and NJ have alot of talent.

Though I'm always a person who'd take GP over Kidd, you're confusing him with when he was playing in 99. That was a monster year for him and definitely MVP-type. He can play both PG and SG and he's arguably the best two-way of all time. He isn't celebrated primarily due to his attitude. You're moreso describing his career, not his current abilities.

lol. But seriously, K-Mart is better than Kemp, Kittles is better the Detlef what's-his-name, GP never had a Richard Jefferson, T-mac(Todd Macolluch) would have been the best center seattle ever had(Not to mention dikembe) and Bryon Scott is a better Coach than George Karl(yes, really). Oh and GP had to beat out a west just as tough as it is now, whereas the East... well, you know.

No I'm not. GP is struggling right now because he's adjusting to the second new system in less than a year, and that little matter of having three other of the top 50 players of all time on one team. But even last year you could look at his numbers(until he got traded) you could look at numbers that were improving! Yes that's over, and he will probably be overshadowed by John Stockton and J-Kidd, especially as he starts to fade, but never forget that until he sacrificed his individual numbers for winning a ring, GP was the best point guard for more than a decade. J-Kidd, AI, Stockton, Fanchise, Steph, and Baron couldn't touch him.

Kemp from what year? In (97-98) he averaged around 18 and 9 and (98-99) 20 and 9 and he was in Cleveland then. Kemp was a real good player, he made 6 All-Star appearances and was a 3-time all-NBA second team selection.

In Seattle he averaged, 18 and 10 his last year, and 19 and 11 the year before.

I don't know if you don't know who Detlef was but, look how much better Kittle was than him. Not even the previous or later years, but just while he was in Seatle. They were even both 8th picks in their respective drafts.

Centers - What about Sam Perkins and Ervin Johnson, MacCulloh isn't better than them, Johson has limited offensice ability, but with more minutes would have had better stats.

nope but t-mac WAS with the nets when kidd was there so he is suggesting if gp only would have had t-mac in seattle that would have been by far the best c gp ever played with. I don't agree with him though, and K-mart better than Kemp of that season, im having trouble believing this,k-mart is way overrated imho, there just arent enough star power forwards in the east to beat him out(accept ben wallace and jermaine o'neal obviously, and abdur-rahim is about the same i guess, only less agressive), cuz if u look at the west: TD, KG, C-webb(when healthy) and maybe even a Karl Malone, and let's take brad miller as a pf a the moment too, k-mart isn't anywhere near those guys imho.
Also sliccat, you should try to be a litte less agressive, it's not like your opinion is the only one that matters and the right one(maybe to you it is but dont go "read the sig" all the time when someone proves you wrong or expresses his opinion)

Kidd is a great PG but he's not the greatest now.. and he's not even close to being the GOAT

i'd take Baron Davis, Starbury, Rafer Alston or GP over him any day

Well, traditionally Point Guards are supposed to handle the ball well, set up the offense and make their team mates better.
A lot of "Point Guards" playing now are more scorers at Point Guard height. I think Jason Kidd is one of the few true point guards in the league now, ofcourse he's not the best ever. I'd say Magic would be the best
