Clutch players this season

Postby VCFAN on Fri Jan 09, 2004 3:48 am

Who do u think has been very clutch this season?

I know there are some really good clutch players like Miller and Kobe but this year my vote would go to Vince Carter. his scoring is down in general and he should shoot more but he seems to bail his team out almost every game like against the Cavs and many other teams. He seems to make almost every one of his shots when the game comes down to the wire and thats the kind of player a team needs when the game is close.

Your opionions?

Yea for sure VC has been very clutch for the Raps, but sometimes he also needs to produce before the 4th quarter.

No MVP for him though

Jiri Welsch. sure it sounds strange but if u go back to a game where welsch got a shot near the end that meant a lot he always hits em. Pierce was that way last yaer, and same with walter, but neither have been quite as good this year in clutch time. how ever pierce has always been one of the top 4th quarter players in the league.

It's gotta be VC, hands down, he's bailed us out like 4 or 5 times already this year in the final minutes...

VC? Micheal Redd?

How about KG?

And the most underrated clutch player in the league- Eric Snow

You know there are 29 teams (soon to be 30) teams in the league and I don't recall all of them being named "The Sixers", buddy, broaden your horizon a little, watch some other teams playing.

 Aah, the "Kobe Method" has been used once again. It's like the kobe fans, they have to mention Kobe in a poll or their opinion.

Who is clutch, *who cares' name* + favorite team's player.

Who's the best SG? Kobe
Who's most versatile? Kobe
Who's the best player on the Lakers squad? Shaq, he still is.

See, even I used the "Kobe Method". :P

Oh, best clutch player right? Tim Duncan, god damn...almost quadruple double and many three's to let his team get the win. Imo, he's very clutch.

Timmy has only hit 2 three's.......I don't know if I'd say he's clutch, but he's very dependable down the stretch. San Antonio doesn't get into that many situations that need him to be clutch anyways.

Clutch is a player's ability to step up in important situations, especially in the last two minutes of the game. An easier way to describe clutch would be to put up a picture of Tim Duncan, and but a big X over it.

Don't be ridiculous, just because TD's only weakness happens to be shooting FT's, and he doenst always miss them, TD mostly plays that good that the spurs dont need him in clutch(like someone said before), and maybe with the spurs it could be parker's job to hit the big shots, which he loves to do. But being clutch aint always hitting the last or final shot, it could be blocking the final shot, or grabbing the decesive rebound, or make the player change his shot, in short also: defense, and TD is a great defensive player, he almost always has an impact so i think TD is clutch enough.
I agree with you on the eric snow thingy though

He might not hit three's but he has quite a few shots from beyond the expected range of a big man. Cept for a few guys (Dirk, Walker) not many guys can.

I don't understand why Duncan is not clutch? Free throws? 70 % isnt all that bad now is it?

He's won ball games for his team when games were close. I remember a game from last year, I think the whole Laker squad collapsed on Duncan, he very very cooly just threw the ball against the backboard, re-caught it and dunked it. It seriously looked as if he just threw it back up there, to catch it again.

Staying cool while the game is on the line, is clutch to me.

what's the point of this? i've seen psycho jackal do this before with other users before. please just let go- don't bring your grudges into other threads. this instigation is not necessary and doesn't contribute to a positive atmosphere in this forum. even in stevan's 2003 nlsc in review thread, a great thread no less, psycho jackal is putting stuff like this... if whoever has a problem with me, fine with me. just leave it out of the discussions. i may not get along with scubilete, but at least he puts some rationale thought into what he posts and for the most part does not make it personal.

i'm no mod and i'm not asking for them to do something. just wanted to put this out here

Lol, funny you, of all people mention this, the only reason I do all of this is because you do it. How was I, in any way, connected to the thread which was locked? I was connected to that thread by you. You mentioned MY name, when you said stuff about cockstroking site run by members like ME and others.

Don't even try to get sympathy and turn it all back to me.

Btw,

How was the comment you quoted me on, in any way related towards you? Not everything someone says is directly directed towards you, broaden your horizons man, the world doesnt revolve around you.

this is the final time i'm going to comment on this situation...

first off, thanks to stevan for sticking up for me. it's not necessary but i'm appreciative of it. also i'm glad at least one person is entertained with and more importantly understands what i say in this forum

as far as the stroking thing goes:
i'll admit before i'd say a lot of things to strike a nerve on lakers fans. but i've toned it down...

lately i've brought up valid opinions backed up by solid facts and statistics when it comes to making comments about lakers teams or its players. on the other hand, certain users on the forum counter with arguments backed by personal attatcks, they attack players or teams i like... basically they've shown me they can't make an intelligent discussion when certain comments are made about the lakers team or its players (maybe they can, but they just are not going about it the right way).

that's a stroker in my book.

whatever names users want to call me: bulls ass licker, bulls cocksucker, limpy etc, go right ahead. but let it be known this: if someone's going to make a discussion based on the bulls or their players being bad, i'm not going to counter with something like, "well, kobe's a rapist" or "lackers suck too" or "you have no life". also as stevan pointed out earlier:
What's with the Bulls asslicking thing man? There's me, Andrew and Crawford4MIP4sure. There's not many Bulls threads, not every discussion turns into "Bulls this and Bulls that" and we're generally quick to point out how sucky the Bulls are
.

as far as my nickname and profile. stevan got it right:
I assume Limps name is supposed to be funny simply because he's a funny guy, and before he did that there were several usernames with variations of Kobe in them. No biggie, let's all move on
and if it was such a big deal, you could have just asked me rather then continue to speculate publicly on the board

anyway.. i'm not making this post to show that i'm right or gain sympathy. but do notice i haven't done any namecalling (the stroker was explained) or instigate further flame wars. most of what i have said is based on facts...

if someone's going to have a discussion with me, you better bring some valid points, not some weak argument filled with personal attacks. otherwise i'll lose respect for your opinions on the forum. tough shit. call me asshole or whatever, i don't care. but i'm sick & tired of seeing a lot threads/posts filled with strawman arguments, misinformed opinions, "LOL" comments, etc made by users who contribute very often here

Sure, so many facts backed up in there, and some people say I use personal attacks, again, I ask you, how was I involved in the discussion before you mentioned my name? I see that as a personal attack, I'm sorry, I don't see any stats/facts or wahtever it is you back up with.

It was a personal attack. Just read that piece.

You saying it's backed up by facts yada yada is the utter most bullshit you've spat out since I've been here.

And here, you have the guts to say, I say stupid stuff, if you point one finger at me, 3 point back towards you (thumb isn't viewed as a finger, and it doesnt point back to you.)

Yeah, there were so many valid opinions in the quote I posted above, it's surprising.
