Kwame Brown

He is a total disappointment. I never really kept up with the kid, but he was a number 1 pick back in 2001. I was surprised that today's game vs. the Bucks was his 1st game he scored above 20 points in his career! He wasn't the number 1 pick this year or last year but in 2001! It took this guy 168 games to finally break 20 points...really pathetic compared to other #1 picks (Lebron is averaging over 20 a game and came outta high school like Brown did!)
And to top it off, in the 1st half, when he was on fire, he asked to be taken out of the game becaused he was TIRED! TIRED!
Big old 21year old, 2 year veteran asking to be taken outta the game because he was TIRED in the game of his CAREER. This is really sad. He better post 20 or more points again next game to make up for that. He is on the last year of his rookie contract and something like that you shouldn't say at all ( unless u played like 40minutes) since he was the number 1 pick and he was totaly dominating the game. It just goes to show you how tough this guy is. You should be able to at least play a full half if you been in the league for 2 years already.

what do you guys think about this?

Yeah, did you notice that Larry Hughes shot 5 for 23 too? Damn... Is he overrated or underrated...? I confess I had high expectations for this guy... I saw some "special" tag on him somewhere along the line...

As for Brown, yeah, he played great... Where did you read he asked for being taken out? This is lame, lol. Also, don't forget he has better stats than Jermaine O'Neal, during the same point of their careers...

bah, Jermaine O'Neal was a 17th pick and was on already talented Blazer team. He was stuck behind good players like Rasheed Wallace...Brown is stuck behind himself it seems.

I just finished watching NBA Fast Track and heard them talking about this but espn.com also has it in there recap of the game

Hehehe.. The thing with brown is the talent of that draft class. Pau Gasol has turned out quite nice, but apart from him who is there? Tyson Chandler? Eddy Curry? Not much.. its not as if they passed on Carmelo here. He should be producing alot more, but alot of teams have had busts from that draft

Glad you posted this topic, I was considering a Kwame discussion after I saw the boxscores in my lunch break today.

There's no denying that Kwame has been pretty disappointing thus far. Increased court time hasn't yielded the explosion that other players who have jumped to the NBA straight from high school experienced upon receiving greater opportunities. He remains an ill-advised first overall pick, even if the other candidates weren't significantly more appealing.

However, he has had good games here and there. I've seen him play a little and I've kept track of the boxscores, and I think he's a player capable of fine performances. The key is consistency.

What establishes good players as being good players? Their ability to play well, and play well consistently. For Kwame to be considered half-way deserving of being the first overall pick, he needs to have more of these good games. He needs to have good numbers throughout the year, with some good (and bad, no player is perfect) games sprinkled throughout the season.

It's possible, but he's going to need the attitude to better his game, earn the opportunity to show what he can do, then continue to get opportunities to prove his worth. I don't think he'll ever be a star, mentioned in the same breath as the NBA's elite. But he can be good, that third player behind two stars. He still has that potential. But that's still just potential until it's realised.

Maybe he needs a change, like a trade? The problem is the wizards invested alot into him.. and i dont think many teams would be willing to give them what they want for Kwame. I think Boston would be a good firt for him though, with pp as the established star and Kwame can develop his confidence alongside the truth. Just a thought tho, i seriously doubt the wizards would make a deal.

I dont think a deal would be too unreasonable for the Wizards. I think the Bucks would be a nice fit for him. A possible lineup could include

C - Gadzuric
PF - Brown
SF - D. Mason
SG - Redd
PG - T.J. Ford.

That's a good young team right there, players who can be competitive and bring the fans in.

After seeing the 1st half of the Bucks-Wizards game, I got very excited how Kwame played. He made good low post moves, had a great 1st step against Joe Smith, and he wasnt afraid of going to the hole.....unlike he always is. He reminded me of Jermaine O´Neal in the offense. he had like 11 points in the 1st quarter (is a 8 PPG player) and 8 in the 2nd, so I got really excited. How ever, in the 2nd half....he got afraid of going to the hole like he did in the 1st half, and he was forced making hard shots over his defenders. After seeing this game, I realized how talented he really is. hes still very young, and still in the learning process of this game, give him a few years and hopefully his confidence will go up by time. He will be a good player. Trust me

Yeah I saw on NBA.com at the half he had 18 points and he only missed like two shots. I was like, damn, if this guy keeps it up in the second half, he's gonna turn some heads. I guess he just couldn't keep the intensity.

i thin Kwame would do very well if he would get enough burn on a regular basis. consistency has been his biggest problem but i think that's because the Wiz keep losing faith in him and then regaining it later. i remember at the start of last season, dood was avg. very good numbers but then fell off as his PT did

the Wiz did invest a lot into him, and maybe he'll still blossom into a very good, if not great post player like JO did. the Wiz just need to be even more patient, if that's possible. Kwame still has a big upside if he turns into the playa people projected him to become

The Wizards can't afford to be too patient with him. Given the history of guys who come straight out of high school, he should be playing better than he is, and receiving more PT.

I think the Wizards need to be firm with him but fair to him. He must earn the playing time and strive to improve his game, but he also needs to be given the opportunity once he's earned it. If he can prove he's capable of posting good numbers on a consistent basis, then he needs to have the opportunity to do so.

In some respects, we humans are not that much different to animals. We'll work harder if a reward is offered. If Kwame truly wants to be a good player in the league, he'll work hard for the incentives the Wizards put before him, as any of us might work harder to advance our careers and be more successful. But if he couldn't care less, then he's probably going to be out of the league in a few years.

I can see you didnt read the thread, Jermaine O´Neal also needed 3 years to get where hes now, and does he suck? I dont think so...tell me what you think :roll:

I think he already told you what he thinks..

As for Kwame and Jermaine O'neal comparisons, I disagree. Jermaine had virtually no minutes in his first 3 or 4 seasons until he was traded. Kwame has been given every opportunity under the sun in washington. He seems like he is scared, and this is a mans league. He has the talent to be something fairly special, but he seems to lack that fire and desire to succeed (somthing mj tried to light by calling him a flaming faggot.. hehe mj you champ :proud:

)
Kwame still has time and will probably get another opportunity on another team, but if he fucks that up too... he might be out of the league... and into the nbl! :crazy:
