Gotta Love Artest

Postby fgrep15 on Tue Dec 30, 2003 7:33 am

Artest had been complaining for weeks about the team's slow style of play and shouted at the coaches during a game against Minnesota to get him the ball more often. On Saturday he started flinging up wild three-pointers in an apparent protest.

"This style we're playing is so boring," Artest had said. "We're in first place in the East, but it's not real fun playing this style of basketball."

"Coach" Artest also added that the team didn't work hard enough in practice. "We're probably the only team that never practices contact," he said. "Once we start practicing a little harder, we'll be ready for the game."

Maybe he's angry because he's not getting all-star votes and he needs those 22ppg to get em.

Ron Ron should make the all star at least as a bench player selected by the coaches. I'm still fuming that the knicks took fredrick weis over this guy

Get fucked as if Ron Artest will be out of the league. He plays hard, works constantly on his game and body... there is no way unless he gets caught up in drugs. His attitude isnt bad at all.. he just wants to win

Ronnie should just shut his mouth and play, the coaches are trying the best to optimize the teams' talents, and it's not of his part to keep complaining about the team's style of play.

Ron Ron is just tryin' too hard.

Something about that doesn't sound right. I understand where he's coming from, but he does come off sounding a little selfish there. Obviously a team can't rest on their laurels just because they're first in their conference, but Artest does sound like a malcontent when he makes remarks like that, which does raise questions whether he's interested in personal or team goals.

But I wouldn't judge him too harshly. I've never played in the NBA, but I have played competitive basketball and I know the frustration that arises when the wins are ugly and you feel as though you are not contributing to the team success. I don't know if that's exactly what Artest is feeling, that's just my guess. But I know when I got frustrated with the way things were going, I said things I probably shouldn't have said, and took stands that were hard-headed.

Perhaps with Ron it's a case of his intentions being good, his approach being wrong.

maybe a trade is in store for Artest in the future. Carlisle will get fed up of his shit, if he already isn't, and will probly seek another player to fit the SF role

this is blown out of proportion. artest has the reputation so the reporters are all over this. the comments shouldn't come as a suprise considering artest is crazy+too competitive to a fault and the team has been struggling as of late. other players probably complain privately about carlisle's offense. same happened in detroit.

not playing defense and hoisting up 3's shows how frustrated and immature artest is. good for carlisle for benching him against the nets. artest has done a fine job not keeping himself in check for the most part. he's bound to blow up every so often.

but since the pacers won tonite, the media will just forget about everything that happened over the past few days. if the pacers continue winning, the reporters will go back to the nets and try and dig up more dirt on them
