Sources: Charlotte trades Dwight Howard to Brooklyn

The Charlotte Hornets have traded center Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Nets are sending the Hornets center Timofey Mozgov and two future second-round draft picks, with cash consideration as well, league sources said.

Howard, 32, has one year remaining on the three-year, $70.5 million deal he signed with the Atlanta Hawks in 2016. Atlanta traded Howard and a second-round pick to Charlotte in 2017 for Marco Belinelli, Miles Plumlee and a second-round draft pick.

Mozgov, 31, has two years and $32.7 million remaining on the four-year, $64 million deal he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2016. Mozgov was traded with D’Angelo Russell to Brooklyn in 2017 for Brook Lopez and the draft pick that became Kyle Kuzma.

That makes three teams in three years. Kupchak reunites with Mozgov.

Who would have thought 6-8 years ago that a 31 year old Dwight Howard, would be traded for Timothy Mozgov.

Howard had a really good year last year, but he is bouncing around a lot. When he was dominating for Orlando, I never pictured him turning out to be a journeyman.

Apparently he wore out his welcome in the Hornets' locker room; at least, that's the buzz (no pun intended) I'm seeing on Twitter. It seems to be a recurring problem for him in recent years.

He's an expiring contract so it makes no sense to trade him other than to just get rid of him, even if it means taking on more salary. Plus Kupchack might have beef from LA

True. If nothing else, they get a couple of picks out of it. It shows how much his value has dropped, though.

Last night I was reading this profile on him that came out before the season that's just finished. He admits he doesn't have a lot of friends in the league. Josh Smith may have been the last, and he's out.

Apparently it's all an act

Sean Marks is the big winner here. Basically unloading Brook Lopez's expiring for now Dwight's expiring and got the #2 draft pick out of it after his predecessors traded all his picks away

If so, the NBA finals should be Warriors vs. Eastern All-stars

I hope he joins the Warriors. David West will either knock him out, Draymond will scream in his face constantly or he'll end up sleeping with Ayesha Curry.

Be your cancerous self Dwight, use your powers to dismantle the Warriors.

That's not going to make him or them more likeable, that's for sure.

Besides, the position of goofy big man is all locked up:
