2018 PLAYOFFS: (1) Houston vs. (2) Golden State

Postby Lamrock on Wed May 09, 2018 3:09 pm

We've basically known this would be the conference finals match-up since December, and many call this the de-facto finals. I personally think Houston's chances of beating GS are equally as miniscule as Cleveland's, but let's see how it goes...

Anyway, I'm picking a Warriors sweep. That's not to say the Rockets are worse than the Pelicans or crippled Spurs, they're much better. But they still don't hold a candle to the greatest super team of all time.

Going with the Rockets in 7. Don't care to be wrong, just want it to happen. How can you not root for the Rockets, they got two of the most underrated superstars of this generation in Chris Paul and Harden.

Perhaps nearly all of us acknowledge the Warriors at their full strength are much more dangerous team than the Rockets. But the Rockets winning 65 games wasn't a fluke either and very capable of crazy offense.

This could be the actual Finals of this year's NBA.

I'll go with Rockets in 7 as well. Hopefully it'll be an exciting series either way, and perhaps more importantly, Don Nelson will keep his pants on.

Warriors in 6. Rockets won't be able to match the Warriors balanced attack.

Totally disagree about Harden being underrated, if anything he's overrated in my opinion. Regardless, Paul and Harden won't be enough in this series.

Congrats to Chris Paul for making his first conference finals, and being a huge part of that process. I always thought he was going to get it done with the Clippers (Atleast make it to the Conf finals, not a championship). He took the Jazz to school last game.

hmm, Warriors in 6 sounds reasonable to me. I am mostly interested to see how first 2 games go. Really wonder what sort of focus Warriors will bring to those games. I mean, will they go all in from the very beginning or will they react only based on what Rockets have to offer like they have been doing so far this season?

I've been saying all year that the CP3 acquisition put the rockets ahead of the warriors. Rockets in 7. This will be a series full of adjustments and 3 pointers I can't wait to watch

These Rockets team are potentially the best team Curry's GWS ever faced. Perhaps even better than Kawhi's Spurs.

Will GSW's "death line up" work just as well against the Rockets? The Rockets can turn to small ball as well with Luc A moute and Tucker, which proven to be a success. When they're not playing small, no worries, they got depth at 5 position with Capela and Nene.

In short, this is something new too for the Warriors. They haven't faced any team this good ever so far in their dynasty era. 50-50, roll the dice.

Any prediction for the actual Finals game 1? I am going with the Rockets win by 10 to 13 points victory in relatively high scoring game. They will come out making a statement and throw the first punch. Or that's what I want to see happen.

A lot of threes, high scoring, and probably a Rockets win to open the series. Also, whereas winning Game 1 may not end up being consequential in the Eastern Conference Finals, I think this series is going to turn out according to the historical norm, with the winner of Game 1 ultimately being the team to prevail.

I think the Warriors come out and punch them in the mouth immediately, and I think Draymond Green will play a big part in that. I also believe that the Warriors will stifle Capela and he won't be nearly as effective in this series as he was in the last two.

My prediction is a final score of Warriors 116, Rockets 102.

My prediction of 116-102 Warriors was accurate at 46 seconds to go in the game.

Warriors just have so much firepower. I think the Warriors actually take this series in 5.

Well, I said the winner of Game 1 would be the one to take the series, and with that in mind, I'm already willing to say that my pick of Rockets in 7 is going to be wrong. Call it a knee-jerk reaction or flip-flopping if you like, but they did not look good in the second half, with no answer at all for the Warriors' trademark third quarter barrage. I thought they had the stuff to possibly get the job done this time around, and it admittedly is only one game, but the Rockets did not inspire confidence in this one.

the rockets have zero chance to win this serious. people want to pretend like they did as manufactured drama to make the playoffs more interesting but the reality is once the east is decided the season is over as far as exciting basketball is concerned

Man... At this pace, Curry is gonna collect like 4, 5 rings and retire as the best ever pg when end time comes.

Kinda dont want to see another warriors in Finals and having it easy no matter who comes out of east.

Andrew, do you also like Cetics chance better as they stole the first game?

I think they have a shot and it was a tremendous start for them, but it's not as meaningful as Game 1 in this series., if only because of how many times LeBron's teams have lost the first game and gone on to win the series anyway.

I like how the Rockets have the best PnR guard since John Stockton yet they kept running iso plays.

Kevin Durant is still a bitch.
