Brandon Knight tears ACL, expected to miss entire 2017-18 season

Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight has torn the ACL in his left knee and is expected to miss the entire 2017-18 season, the team announced Tuesday afternoon. Knight reportedly tore the ligament last week during a pro-am game in Miami.

Knight was examined by Suns team doctor Tom Carter, and will undergo surgery to repair the ACL.

In the official announcement, the Suns said a timetable for Knight’s return to the court “will be determined at a later date, though he is expected to miss the 2017-18 season.”

The injury is yet another brutal blow for Knight, who has struggled with various injuries since being traded to Phoenix in 2015. He missed 46 of his first 109 games with the team. His first two seasons in Phoenix both ended prematurely due to health.

Perhaps the Suns wouldn't have been able to help Derrick Rose stay healthy after all.

Tough break for Knight.

Ouch, still 3 years to go on his 5-year $70 million contract. Can we say this ranks in the upper tier of the worst deals ever?

There must have been some changes to the Suns medical team for injuries like this to be happening to their players.

He last played for them 5 years ago.
People can leave even if they're just members of the medical staff, especially if you have a tightwad owner like Sarver and have better offers elsewhere.
Just look at Bledsoe, it's obvious the Suns lost Jesus working in their med team.

Hill's role also changed massively.

They never fixed Amare. And Nash was a lot his own doing, especially diet, and had started in Dallas because he kept being burned out by the end of the season.

The Suns "medical halo" was mostly because they were not afraid to take advantage of Arizona's medical boom (one guess why this existed*) and put the players through all kinds of new sports medicine, lots of which led nowhere but the team benefited in the long run. Now every team is doing this stuff.

*Here's a hint, the thing the Suns medical advisers were best at picking out in players as potential injury risks? Hips and other joints.

It's been all downhill for BK since being traded from the Bucks during what was a career season. Thought he might be able to bounce back and be a modern day Jason Terry, but this might be it for him. I'm sure that $70M is some consolation though.
