Larry Bird Stepping Down As President Of Pacers

Larry Bird will step down as president of the Indiana Pacers with Kevin Pritchard taking over basketball operations.

Bird is expected to continue working for the Pacers as a consultant. Bird was head coach of the Pacers in the late 1990s and returned to the team in 2003 as President of Basketball Operations. Bird left the Pacers in 2012 due to health issues before returning a year later.

The Orlando Magic have also been asking around about Bird as a possible candidate for president.

Wonder how that'll affect the situation with Paul George, if at all.

Bye, Legend.

I'll miss him playing a major role in the NBA. But, his health has been going downhill. I hope he is happy regardless of what he decides to do.

Funny, Kevin Pritchard was a player on the 90-91 Warriors RUN TMC team... going from a legend to a bench warmer. Haha.

Go get em, Pritchard.

He's also responsible for the Blazers taking Oden ahead of Durant in 2007.

I had so much faith in Pritchard when he was the Blazers' GM. Before Oden's second knee injury, he was seen as one of the best general managers in the league, but Oden's demise, as well as relatively poor 2009 and 2010 drafts cost him his job. I think he'll do a good job overseeing this rebuild though.

That's a fair point, it is much easier to say that in retrospect. Oden could've been a pretty good player, if not for his injuries.
