Not really. Basically all you said was that Payton would pass the ball to someone who scores...that's how an assist occurs, yes, but in regards to the offensive set (which is what we were talking about), that doesn't explain anything. I don't think Payton will get as many assists as you are predicting because the triangle - the primary offense of the Lakers - doesn't really work that way (although the Triangle was originally intended for point guard and power forward, it'll work great when just Malone and Payton are on the floor, but what I'm arguing - and I should have been more specific - is that when Kobe, Shaq, Payton, and Malone are on the floor it won't work that well)...and it doesn't work that way because the main players on the Lakers are Kobe and Shaq.

Payton will get 4-5 apg tops....Kobe and Shaq will get around 6 each, Kobe maybe 7....

That looks even more difficult to believe, Shaq is a good passer but not to average those numbers in assists, Payton is a PG and you believe he will get less assists, that's just your opinion, I have a different one.

Last year, everyone knew the Lakers needed help in the Post for Shaq (a PF) and a better PG, the Lakers get 2 terrific players to fill those positions and some (not you Shane) get like they are worse than Portland who never won against the old Lakers, meaning that now the Lakers are worse than what they were before, . Then, they would say there's no proof around they don't like the team.

Payton is a PG, but the ball will likely still be in Kobe's hands most of the time, hence Kobe is likely to get more assists and Payton's assists are likely to drop, especially with O'Neal and Malone also on the team wanting the ball in their hands.
